The black one looks worse after you've been using it for a while (the greasy look). It shows up less on the white. Glossy black would have been better than matte.

Edit: See above post. Someone agrees with me.

I would personally say wait until WWDC. The black macbooks might be getting higher specs to justify the price. It is really being pushed in the UK at the moment.

Rubbish.

The grease wipes away with iKlear.

Glossy black would scratch.

White scratches and stains.

I was in your shoes and the truth is the black is just nicer. People say it looks like a normal laptop BUT it still doesn't there is that difference. Even my sister recognised it as another mac not a PC and it was upside down.

It is a pain to clean but if you use a damp cloth the grease wipes off easily. One caveat though is the edges are quite sharp since the black is made of metal and not plastic like the white counterpart. Not all models suffer this but mine does. No serious cuts yet just discomfort.

Overall though i'd say thumbs up for the BlackBook.

I'd like to see that metal BlackBook. Mine is plastic.

The resale value of the blackbook will be higher than that of the white laptop - not just because its initial value was higher, but because of its higher speed, larger hard drive, resistancy to scratches, and Superdrive.

Thats not necessarily true, seeing as the majority of people are buying black ones, like the ipods its actually rarer to have a white one and the prices are not depriciating on them as fast as black models.

Honestly, imo, the black macbook is a waste of time... I walked into the apple store yesterday, and I have never seen one up close before, and when I saw it, I thought to myself, why are there acer laptops in a apple store? Then I went up to it and it was apple, and its not to nice by apple standards. The keyboard is a bit different, all fingerprints show, and its just not as nice as the white one... Stick to what apple intended there computers to look like, white!

Once you go Black you can never go back! so my sister tells me....

Seriously, if you are a student you should be saving your money, so a white mac book will be fine, spend the rest of your money on going out/drinking!

Earlier I said get what you want. After thinking about it again, I say it doesn't matter. Which ever one you get your going to love. If you get a white one, it will be your favorite notebook ever. If you get a black one, it will be your favorite notebook ever. Like the above post says, your a student.....save money....for beer. So, do yourself a favor and save a little bit of money (and time and agony of whiping off fingerprints) and get the white one.
