Does anyone else have this problem?

DNDWD works fine when I manually select it but it refuses to enable when I set it to automatic or through my cars Bluetooth.

I haven't toggled off any location services or motion detection in the settings and my car is a 2015 and the BT works perfectly for every other feature on the iPhone.

I have a 6s if that makes a difference. Never got it to work automatically on any betas and I'm on the GM right now.

I have the same problem. I did a reset on my phone and that didn't seem to help.

2015....? Post make/model. Also, what is the name of the device that appears in the AirPlay menu? Sometimes if the Bluetooth device isn’t identified as a car, then the feature won’t work. Apple mentioned this in the developer keynote.

Regardless, report as a bug so they can address this.

Is there any Bluetooth to aux jack adapter that will identify as a car? I don't have a stereo with Bluetooth in my 2011 Rav4, and have been using a himbox bluetooth adapter, but I think ios considers it a headphone vs a car based on the fact the maps app will not remember where I parked. (I am out of town to test it in person in my car.)

FYI, here is what I am using currently, but does not appear compatible:

2015 Audi A5. The name of the device that appears in the AirPlay menu is "Audi UHV 6882". I know my iPhone recognizes it as an automotive Bluetooth connection because I can sync contacts and groups. So weird that it doesnt work. I'm guessing some Audi headunits just didn't get added to a list of devices that enable DNDWD.

I have both in my car. I have standard Audi hands-free that enables Bluetooth calls but does not enable steaming audio over Bluetooth. For this reason I also have an A2DP Bluetooth receiver hooked up to my aux for streaming music. I assumed maybe this was causing some confusion with the DNDWD feature. So I completely unplugged it and put it in my glove box and shut my car down and came back the next morning and tried starting the car and driving around and the problem still persists where DNDWD will not enable even though I'm 100% sure the only connection being made is through the Audi hands-free and nothing else. And before someone says it just I doubled checked to make sure I set DNDWD to enable with Bluetooth lol. I'm guessing some Audi headunits just didn't get added to a list of devices that enable DNDWD. Just sucks that it won't sense my speed either and automatically enable that way.

Same issue here too. Manual is fine but Auto and BT doesn't enable it.

iPhone 7+
2014 Lexus IS 250

I tried to do more research last night, but did not come up with any aux/Bluetooth adapters that would tell the iPhone they are in a car vs headphones. It’s also not clear how Apple figures out if a device is a car vs some other Bluetooth device.

I really don’t want to replace the factory stereo just for parking/dndwd, hopefully someone can figure out a solution now that iOS 11 has been released.

I use a Kinivo BTC450 in my wife's 2006 Saturn Vue and under iOS 10 it reported as headphones, but seems to be reporting as a car in 11, as it prompted for DNDWD yesterday and I no longer got the headphone icon when connected to it.

It doesn't work for me either. I tried unplugging to CarPlay (VW Tiguan) and it didn't make any difference. It works manually, but I would really like the Automatic option to work.

WORK AROUND? I have mine set for Bluetooth which doesn't work either. However, once connected to bluetooth, I pulled down the notifications page and it suddenly figured it out and switched to do not disturb. Anybody else able to do this?

I don't have this problem. but a workaround may be changing the DNDWD setting from "When Connected to Car Bluetooth" to "Automatically". This setting automatically activates DNDWD when motion is detected.

I found that "Automatically" is more convenient for me because it turns DNDWD off when I park the car and I stay in the car, while "When Connected to Car Bluetooth" keeps DNDWD on until Bluetooth is disconnected.

Have not enabled this function, as my car does not have Bluetooth, but, phone did give me a Notification when I was driving to turn it on when a call came in.

I had an interesting experience. I turned it on to automatic this morning before work. (I am a pilot.)

I was climbing out of Philadelphia today and wanted to check to see if I had turned my phone to airplane mode like I am suppose to. When I checked, I found out do not disturb while driving had activated. FYI I was doing about 350 knots groundspeed at the time.

Do not disturb while driving (in automatic mode) apparently isn’t smart enough to deactivate itself when you are going speeds way too high to be driving.

Good to know. I will have to experiment with my hmbox, if it is confirmed with others I may replace it with one that works.

Ok, I tested my hmbox and my phone thinks it is a headset vs a car. I am undecided if I should just leave it in automatic mode, or try the kinivo model listed above.

I have been using mine in automatic as it seems to be more reliable than cars Bluetooth for some reason. I wish the Do Not Disturb worked while using Waze or Apple Maps. You would think there would be an option to enable that function while using Do Not Disturb

It doesn’t seem to identify my car as well. Tried the automatic mode and never has it turned itself on. And I even tried Bluetooth option and still it does t work. Do we need to keep any specific location service on for this to work. Like parking mode function in apple maps needs frequent locations to be on.

Any ideas?

I noticed that if you set to Automatic, it will detect motion and I've discovered if I turn off Motion & Fitness option under Privacy, it will not enable automatically. I believe it somehow uses the motion processor chip to detect this and enable accordingly. Worth a try...

This could be the reason for it to not work on my iphone. I use a Fitbit and have turned it off on iPhone. It creates two entries when I sync my Fitbit with health. May be I will figure out a way. Let me check.

Works fine for me in my 2017 VW. I did some testing today and does all it is supposed to that I know

So i enabled motion and fitness and also enabled the location service for the same. The feature now works as advertised. Has activated every time so far in the last two days.
