I generally don't put my face that close to the screen, so to me, its a non-issue.
I guess you didn’t bother to look at the twitter post I linked earlier. It’s obvious with normal text size. The Ars link with the zoomed in text is just to explain why.

It doesn't matter. I'm typing this post on Mojave with a 2014 Mac mini and a 1080p monitor. As I mentioned earlier, it looks perfectly acceptable to me.

Indeed, I noticed no difference when upgrading to mojave on my 23.6" asus 1080p monitor.

This is the issue with Mojave sub pixel anti-aliasing. I noticed it the first time I booted into Mojave with non-Retina screens. I found it quite jarring. However, I don't notice any problem at all on my Retina Macs.

I don't see any difference between the two other than color. Maybe if you posted a side by side using the same letter combos I could see what you are talking about. But like this? Nothing.

There is the aforementioned lack of antialiasing, but how big was the 'monitor' (or was it just a TV?). Anything beyond ~20" at 1080p is going to look terrible regardless of any amount of antialiasing, it's just a matter of PPI.

1080p looks fantastic with Windows 10. Everything is crisp and text is razor sharp. On Mojave, you can barely tell what the heck you are looking at half the time. It’s a disaster. Worst part is that Apple still sells devices with non-retina screens. It’s unreal.

Side by side real world comparison already posted, just a few posts up in fact.

Anyhow, if you don’t see a problem that’s fine by me. I’m just providing the explanation of what the issue is and a simple one line fix for it.

What you decide to do with that info is up to you.

This!^

When using the dark mode in IDE you can really see the difference.

I remember when I first started up Intellij IDEA in Mojave. At first look at the text I saw that there is something really wrong.

I actually appreciate thread starter for posting this. I am very peculiar about how things look and I would not like any surprises on my screen. I remember Apple changing OS font awhile back made UI readability worse. I will avoid updating to Mojave for sometime. Probably until I buy 4K monitor.

Well the good news is if you don’t like the look of Mojave’s text, you can fix it with a single terminal command.

I still don’t understand why they made such a radical change, esp. while they are still selling non-Retina Macs.
