This does look like a thread from a year ago, but as there have been replies on it, it's showing up on the forum as having new comments. This has happened recently with several threads in this forum. Everything old is new again!
It's a shame that phones are taking over the P&S market especially the low end camcorder market. Years ago Camcorders could be found in many stores and with a wide variety of brands and options, but not the case these days. Yes I bought a camcorder at Fry's in 2001 and they had DOZENS AND DOZENS of different brands and options.
Phones overheat, batteries dont last long, and at the moment are not very viewable in direct sunlight. My warranties to my Canons have now expired but I treat them like babies. Does not mean they will last forever but I hope at least they last another 10 years.
I still see plenty of P&S still shot cameras however. I presume these will also start to vanish from the stores as many think that phones have replaced them. But it is true everywhere I go I see everyone taking shots with their phones and not cameras. Even the pro cameras I dont see as much anymore in public but I do see more of these than P&S cameras however.
