Can't wait for the September 12 even when all these ridiculous "notch" rumors are put to rest. Yes there will be a notch, NO it won't be noticeable. It'll be a black area with the time, battery, etc.
Wrong.
Unfortunately.

Wireless charging? Yes, please.

Face login? Nice-to-have

The notch? NO. Home button is great for multitasking.

Remember this comment? lol

On-topic: I do hope we get an iPad like that soon!

You use your iPads home button for multitasking though? I either always use the 4-5 finger pinch, or the pull from the bottom with iOS 11. I only use it to unlock with Touch ID.

I want solar charging. Just lay it in the sun & it charges.
Not that we have so much sun where I live, maybe half of the year, but well....
When will that come?

Yeah I'm not sure if it'll go full iPhone X with the notch and everything. But I can definitely imagine within the next year or 2 removing the home button and drastically reducing the bezels. I actually made a thread here that talks about my thoughts on that front. Basically it involves keeping the 10.5 iPad dimensions the same size, but growing the screen to make the top/bottom bezels as narrow as the side bezels. This would result in an 11.3" screen. Doing the same thing to the 12.9" iPad results in a screen size of 13.5".

Well, didnt that Ming Chi Kuo dude predict that a "Radical" redesign would be coming to the ipads in 2018? I'm pretty sure he wrote that leading up to the release of the new 10.5" & 12.9" ipad pros a few months ago.

I am sure if this is true, we will begin to see leaks in another 6 months. Until thhen, its all speculation. But i would imagine that Apple will eventually remove the bezels in the ipads which would make the 12.9" much more portable.

I do. I like using it with the Apple Smart Keyboard. I may be a weird and quirky person though...

FWIW I never used the multifinger gestures. But after running iOS 11 for a while I almost always use the swipe up for multitasking. So I can definitely see the home button going away. Honestly I think the iPad is even a better device for face ID than iPhone (which I'm still not sold on).

As an aside, I was just thinking about how swipe differences from iPhone X to iPad are gonna drive some people nuts!

Long swipe up (iPad) = multitasking
Long swipe up (iPhone) = close app

Short swipe up (iPad) = dock
Short swipe up (iPhone) = multitasking

Nope, but Apple will certainly continue to reduce bezels and eventually eliminate the home button.

If you’re already using iOS 11 you will notice that it’s designed for iPads and one of its goals is to move away from using the home button.

I expect future iPads to be smaller/lighter in a remarkable fashion.

Exactly. Press any empty space in iOS 11 iPad equivalent of Mission Control (the multitasking menu) and you get to Home. It's really fast and natural. You don't even need to use the 4 finger gesture now. Home button can be removed as soon as they get Face ID to work on the iPad.

As for Bezels, they will probably shrink them a bit, but not much - the screen will grow in top and bottom bezel areas mostly. Can't wait.

The renders look great! The product looks poor. It could look so much better. All that money, they should be able to develop something better than that.

Agreed.

The bezel reduction will impact both iPad Pros but the main beneficiary will be the big brother, iPad Pro 12.9 as it has not received the same treatment as the 10.5 in the last round.

No way Apple will go full screen.

I think the big problem would be the OLED panel, brightness and burn in. I checked out the higher end Samsung tablets with OLED and they were not very bright and had horrible lines burned into the screen. LCD is a very mature technology, OLED for this purpose is still experimental.

ipad still can reduce the TOP and BOTTOM bezles to the point making it like the symmetry of iPhone X, so the side bezels will remain the same (from 10.5") but the top and bottom will be the same like the sides one

there is so much potential in designing interfaces for edge-to-edge touch screens, but what's been put forwards in iOS 11 just feels so poorly thought out.
