I held off on the iPad in favor of a new iPhone... after I had my iPhone for a few weeks, I tried out an iPad and was really struck by how aliased things looked...
A few weeks later, I picked an iPad up again and thought more about how I would "really" use it - I tried holding it in more natural poses and pulled up text at a comfortable distance. Held it like a magazine or notepad... That made all the difference. The "blurriness" is slight and imperceptible unless you're really focusing on it. While I think the iPad *could* stand to be a little higher res for some functions, I'm now seriously thinking about picking one up pretty soon... even if a retina version is coming down the pipeline.
