Of course I remember it. I also remember seeing a promo video on Apple’s site with Seal and Moby that was all about this weird little silver and white jukebox thingy with a big mechanical wheel on the front. I was sold. Got one on the first day.

I was using the Palm Pre, and then Android when Palm imploded. Both on Sprint. At the time, I wouldn’t have been caught dead using a Fruit Phone! :D I switched to Verizon as Sprint’s network fell further behind, and loved my iPad! For several years I used Android phones and Apple tablets and Microsoft PCs. Very confusing! Eventually I switched to iPhone when Apple offered a screen size that would compete with my beloved Android Phablets, and I became more and more concerned about phone security. I haven’t looked back!

I miss those days. It didn't seem super trendy till iPhone 4-5 and up. Now everyone and their mom have one.
Iphone 4 was a HUGE launch. waiting in line overnight was fun for that phone. I got in at 3g. The second iPhone.

I remember.

I remember waiting four years for the iPhone to come to Sprint because I was not going to move to AT&T.

I remember all the issues with data on AT&T and their network being unprepared. I remember AT&T blaming it's customers for using data.

I remember using a non-iPhone smartphone on Sprint that could cut and paste and send MMS while the iPhone couldn't. I remember iPhone finally getting that feature and AT&T finally enabling MMS.

I remember when Verizon got the iPhone and finally when Sprint got it. Then I remember that it wasn't an iPhone I wanted. So I remember waiting one more year before buying my first iPhone on Sprint.

Yeah. I remember.
Me2. Didn’t get an iPhone until the 5. Although it was, and I still am, with AT&T.

@FFR is right; the 16 came later, but it was still a Gen 1 iPhone.

That exclusivity also gave way to Android. Not that Android wouldn’t have become the other major platform given Google’s firepower and the natural competitive forces of capitalism, but the exclusivity made that path easier for others. It was good for AT&T, but I think it was a missed opportunity for Apple in the U.S.

Yes, I remember. It’s the main reason why it took so long for me to move over to iPhone.

I had a bad experience with AT&T on the residential side with their nickel and dime practices on billing. Enough to where I refused to get the iPhone until it became available on other carriers.

I've been with AT&T since my first cell, when the iPhone came out, I remember saying I wasn't going to get that phone. Ha ha that lasted until I could find a Apple store near me. Been iphone every since.

Yes. The iPhone 4 was the longest running phone at 15 months. It launched in June of 2010 and the iPhone 4s was the first to launch in September (and every one since has been announced in September).

I still remember the 4s launch. I recall rumors were there would be an iPhone 5 with a bigger screen and 4G LTE and then a 4s. Reality was we only got a 4s.

It's fun to reminisce.

I remember that as well. I was finally going to upgrade my 3G but the rumors about LTE were so strong that I decided to wait for the 5 and missed out on one of the most beautiful iPhone cycles ever made with the glass 4’s (until the current X cycle anyway). Same thing happened with the 7. I held onto my 6 until the X came out because everyone knew something better was on the horizon.

I had AT&T as my carrier when the iPhone was announced but didn’t get one until the iPhone 4. I used a blackberry because that’s the only device my company would support for email because of security. They didn’t consider the iPhone handling of exchange secure, but when the iPhone 4 came out they supported a third party email and calendar app and The day they started supporting that app (can’t remember the name but it sucked) I walked to AT&T at lunch and bought the 4.
The email app was probably Good, and man was it bad.

I was so happy when our company finally dumped our internal exchange servers with Good as only iPhone email access and moved to O365

But I am a upgrade every year guy so I get them every year. So this year they need to waive!

I was working on the device team at ATT when the first iPhone launched. Both accessory and device. Reporting and analytics.. testing tons of stuff on thd ‘side’.
[doublepost=1537673176][/doublepost]I can’t say it was me.. but day 2 of iPhone I submitted feedback for long press on .com to add .org, .edu, etc.

I remember buying the AT&T iPhone 4S at full price, then sticking my T-Mobile SIM card in even though I could only get EDGE network when not on WiFi

Never said gen 1 never had 16gb I said it came later, I believe after the price drop.

The og iPhone launched with a 4gb and 8gb model.

I know. I purchased both the 8gb and 16 gb models.

I even purchased an all black iPhone with a dlc coating. That wasn’t offered by apple though.

Not many people remember that.

He must be new to the iPhone.

Yep. That's why I switched from whatever I had at the time. Cingular? Or did they get absorbed by ATT?
If I remember the lineage...
I had Cell One with a Panasonic cell phone and pay per minute usage. I think Cingular bought them or I switched to Bellsouth Mobility. Either way I ended up with Cingular who bought AT&T. Cingular was the label for a while, and then the AT&T name took over a little while before iPhone. Going from a Palm Treo to the first iPhone was a Godsend.

You wouldn't have made much (I worked for AT&T from 1979-2012). The stock was originally around $23 & almost made it to $42 when the iPhone was out. The highest it ever got was around $59 (But they did pay dividends too).

I wish I bought Yahoo stock in the mid 80's when it was 10 cents. It went over $600 before it crashed in the late 90's.

A Bitcoin was originally 6 cents & got as high as $17,549 last December.

I actually watched bitcoin last Janurary go from $150-$17k in a year! Told my friend we should get some cause Ransomeware got so big and i saw some clients get hacked with it.

It’s easier to remember if you lived it.

The before times, when Verizon was the only true 50 state national network, sprint was the second largest network, and roaming was still a thing.

I remember standing in line with my daughter to get her the first iPhone. The big discussion was would she settle for the 4GB if the 8GB version was sold out.

The 4gb version actually ended up being rather rare. I went in that day to buy the 4gb, was maybe 10th in line and it was sold out by the time it was my turn. Ended up with the 8gb.
