Thought about the 2.4 and the better graphics card... but really couldn't justify the extra clams for the graphics card, since I don't do anything really that is graphics intensive to that degree. Was watching some "high-def" stuff the other night and have to say, I'm pretty impressed with what I have :D (below, matte screen, 128 graphics card). Heck it even smokes "nicer" machines I have at work....

well i think i will do what you did XD..
i cannot afford the 2.4...
and the 2.2 is pretty much enough for me...i dont use it for anything professional neither...and the 120gb is VERY much enough for me..i have a 100gb HDD on my current stupid pc and im ONLY using like 60gb of it....by the way im getting the Glossy screen as im used to it on my current laptop =D..

Low end.

Upgraded my Powerbook, mainly so I could play Civ 4.

15" 2.2 GHz 160 GB 5400 RPM

I bought it because it was under $2,000 (gov't discount) and for what I do, I don't need the powah! Actually I could've gotten a MacBook but I really like the 15" screen of the MacBook Pro. That's what sold me.

well thats awesome..you bought what you needed..so how good the graphics are?!

I'm buying a low end one this week, the $2k version, mainly (only) because of the price. If I had more money I'd go for the 2.4 GHz 15,4''. Not the 17'' though, because of the physical size.

yah me too..if i had extra 500$ that i didnt need =\..i would 'throw' it on the extra 128gb of ram and 40gig of HDD >_> ..

The graphics are good, don't tax the system or anything but I think it's the game because from all the user reviews I've read talk about dropped images and freezes, which I have experienced. Lots of fancy eye candy for what is a really good game underneath.

My one-cent review. :D

I got the low end. Today!

Matte. No other options.

I got the low cause I really don't need the extra speed. I mean its a minimal improvement if at all especially if I'm not doing intensive graphic work continually and it is a lot of money. So its unneccessary power. I'm really happy. I'm hoping after selling all the free printers and ipod with edu discount it'll only be lik $1600 and since I can get the tax back, I don't have to worry about paying an extra hundred for tax. So great deal. Why spend $500 extra for nothing. 25% more money for 5% extra power. YEAH RIGHT!

2.4Ghz SR w/ the 256MB 8600. Bit of a gamer when I have the time and wanted that extra VRAM; at 1440x900 and with new games coming out, textures aren't getting any smaller. Also found the difference after adding a 160GB to the base-2.2 to be small enough that it was worth just going for the 2.4.

I went for the more disk space and better VRAM option, simple as that.

well so is it like you just got it cause its the best? or you need the more vram?!

yah as long as you play games on it..then the extra vram worth it no doubt..so i dont need the 160gb HDD currently..but if i even need it i would pay alot for it..then i would be like 'damn,,wish i saved more money for the 2.4 model >_>'..

I don't have my new 2.4ghz 15.4" SR MBP, but I did order it. The decision to purchase the top of the line MBP was based on the fact that I was getting a huge discount from my newly purchased ADC Student account. Also, I wanted to make sure I had enough power to get me through the next few years of my BS in computer science. I know coding and compiling in itself isn't really processor intensive, but faster compile times helps out a lot when you're trying to debug a program, especially if it's a fairly large program.
