Just wondering if you guys have a screen protector and if it is worth it. I know the watches are scratch resistant, but because this is my first watch I just want your opinion on it if it is worth it. The Apple employees have told me "if you take care of it carefully it should't scratch" but due to my career I work in the hospitality industry that is super fast paced so I was considering still getting a screen protector.

Edit: I also own the "Apple Watch 4 - Space Grey Aluminium Case with Black Sport Band 40mm".

I take crazy good care of my electronics, so I don't have one. It sounds like it might be worth it for you to get one though, given your job.

Thank you, the girl over the phone said "people don't really purchase screen protector for their watches versus a phone".

OT: I received the watch as a gift, is it possible for me to purchase AppleCare for the watch and is there a period I have until? And could I purchase it after I opened the box or do I have to have the box sealed and go in and purchase it like that?

I’ve owned the series 0, series 3 and now series 4, never purchased a screen protector. I work with teens at a teen center, so I play basketball, do summer camp, swim, dodgeball you name it. At my part time gig I work stock and inventory unloading trucks. At home cut grass, wash the car, etc.

In all, I live my life without a screen protector on mine and I’ve been fine for years. I’d say you’d be fine as well, but if you need extra piece of mind it wouldn’t hurt. Sure I’ve tapped it or bumped it a few times but no scratches, nicks or dings present.

I don’t use screen protectors on any of my devices. The Sport model would be my only suggestion, I still think The Ion-glass is very durable, but it would be the one model I recommend a screen protector for.

I do. My series three was scratched when my arm swung by a concrete lamppost. Safe to say, series 4 was immediately coated with a wet apply screen protector. You can just see the protector. Not edge to edge. But hopefully enough protection. I do notice slight reduction in fluid motion across the device as there’s more friction with it not being glass but some kind of silicon.

When I got my Series 0, 42mm Aluminium a few years back, the first thing I bought was a screen protector as I was terrified of scratching the screen. After about three months, I had to replace it as it was curling up at the edges, so I bought another, more expensive one.

Again, after another three months or so, I ripped it off as it was curling up and looked rubbish and manky around the edges. Since then, I've not bothered with screen protectors, and my Series 0 screen looked perfect when I traded up to my Series 4 last month. Needless to say, I won't be using a protector on my Series 4.

I use my products the way God intended them to be used:

No screen protector on Watch.
No screen protector on iPhone X.
No case for iPhone X.
I think I might try for the “no-case” on my iPhone with my next one and just buy the extended AppleCare.

The screen on my Series 2 was protected with a screen protector which I'm certain saved it from quite a few dings. I am generally careful with my tech but somehow end up banging my wrist into something. Before Apple Watch, my daily watch took a beating also. For me, it's just an additional piece of mind. ArmorSuit provides edge to edge protection on Series 4.

Well given the lower quality Sapphire on the AW SS....and the fact that a scratched screen is $69 to replace if you have Apple Care, using a $10 protector (comes in a pack of 6) seems prudent.

I am using screen protector on my Apple watch from the very first day. I must say that using screen protector was a great idea of mine. Many of my friends are using Apple watch without screen protector and about 50% of them got scratch on their watch. I am using Armorsuit Protector but there are many options available in the market. You may get some idea about the performance and price of different screen protector from here https://www.mytechreviewer.com/best-apple-watch-screen-protector/

I bought a pack of screen protectors for my s4, but as the corners didn’t adhere, and the rest of it stuck like a static cling sticker I gave up on it, and will just see what happnes.

It can be tricky to get the install done right but at least for me it is worth the trade off. I'm using an ArmorSuit and it went on very well and provides excellent coverage. They've got a video that walks through the install and from installing other brands, it's pretty much the same concept.

It's worth to have a screen protector, no doubt!

No. I bought the SS. I have had the series 0 and now the 4. Wear it everyday even lifting weights. Have never had a scratch.
