Interesting to see how the portable computer gets under your skin. Once you really get used to using one, you never really go back. So, in the house now:

Powerbook 15" 1.25 - My Mac.
Powerbook 12" 1.33
iBook 12" G3/600
iBook Clamshell 300 - Home server/torrent box project.

---

MBP coming as soon as Apple adds Merom + FW800 (or explains how I can get around that problem - I use FCS)

Only one here... an IBM craptop.

700 MHz Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB HD

And the really scary thing is that it's faster than my sister's computer (2 GHz Dell, 512 MB RAM).

Let's not forget, AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, some other really popular messenger, direct link to Myspace on the desktop. Her myspace page saved on her desktop, three, four hundred pieces of spyware...etc.

One laptop: PowerBook G3 (Pismo) 400mhz 384 MB Ram. Still chuggin' along.

Soon I'll have two (possibly three) laptops in the near future. MBP before school starts - Aug 29.

I just don't know if I want to buy a used iBook/TiBook or just upgrade this Pismo to a G4. iBook may be cheaper because Pismo needs new batteries, faster processor, and more ram, plus an airport card, plus a new keyboard. Tab key fell off, and some others are too :p

I have 2, but the other is my old VAIO laptop that has not yet been disposed of. I don't use it at all.

Actually I have 2. The powerbook in my sig is my main computer for graphic design work and some World of Warcraft. An orange 300 mhz G3 ibook running Panther sits next to my tv, connected to an Eye TV. I use it to record films and stuff. I got this for free about 1 1/2 years ago, and until my girlfriend got a new ibook last christmas she used it as her primary computer.

LOL that is just nuts. Mind giving me one? Preferably the MBP. Secondly, how many external drives do you need

Until recently, about 9. Lots and lots of video, some HD. But I'm an editor...whatdya expect? In all honesty, 4 of those are my production partner's. I keep telling her she doesn't need 4 laptops, but she's rich, and doesn't care...so...whatever. I thought it would be a cool pic. 3 17" MBPs, 1 15" PB, 1 17" PB, a 30" ACD, a 20" Intel iMac, and 9 external HDs (5TB+storage) in one shot is always cool.

Question is very simple. How many people out there actually have more than one laptop?
I do now. I just bought myself a new MacBook 1.83 GHz. I was going to buy an iMac to replace my G3 iMac, but I realized that I never use it, so opted for a MacBook. I'm not sure what the division of labor between the ibook G4 and MacBook will be; maybe one to take to school and one for home use, maybe one as a primary machine and one as a secondary machine.

Congrats. One of these days I'll buy one of those new-fangled macs with an Intel processor, but who knows when that will be.

I am not sure about you, but I personally feel very attached to my 600mhz iBook. I just bought a 1.67 Powerbook 15" from someone else in the forum and have been meaning to sell my iBook, but... it's such a sturdy machine. 4+ years of college with it; it's hard to sell. Maybe I'll hold on to it for posterity's sake, for find that "division of labor" but I would really like the money.

It is a cool pic. I'm just jealous.

Yes, a windows laptop on top of my mbp. I don't really use it as it can only run windows 95, but it has some pretty sweet games and I can play roller coaster tycoon and oregon trail on it!

I am not completely sure, but it might be possible to put classic on your system (again, it *might* be possible, IDK), But if you did, it would awesome to run Oregon Trail with it. The original! As for other cool games, instead of roller coaster tycoon, try -Dino Park Tycoon- (anyone?) or Railroad Tycoon (uber-basic)

Roller Coaster Tycoon is way newer and more complex than either of those two games. That would be quite a downgrade.

I LOVE windows 95 actually (my favorite OS ever) and as I don't have internet access on that laptop, no security issues! And it's actually broken...if you tilt the screen to far back it blacks out! My friends call it my ghetto laptop :p

I have a powerbook G4 17" 1.67 hi-res and a macbook 2 Ghz. Trying to decide which one to keep. I really like them both, but as the OP points out... what exactly do you do with more than one laptop? I can't think of a justification for keeping them both.
and I agree with the poster who said RacerX was his hero. That guy does so many cool things with his macs, and he does them using machines that are 6+ years old!
