Absolutely. Its less laggy than Yosemite esp on mission control. Whenever I open a lot of windows in Yosemite going to mission control is veeerrryyy laagy but on EL Capitan, handles very easily.

Using it on "old" 2010 MacBook Air (clamshell - broken screen).
Definitely smoother/faster in opening apps than Yosemite. No problem driving the 2560x1080 external screen.
No unexpected crashes so far.

Only glitches for now :
- wake from sleep in clamshell mode isn't working properly
- Certificates from the Belgian eID card don't show up in Keychain Access so no secure logging in on certain websites.

Here
I made a portion on my rMBP and just installed it a few minutes ago. So far it completely flies and feels less laggy than Yosemite. I've had some pretty annoying bugs with Yosemite; in fact, more than any OS X version I've ever used (I started with Panther). I love the new Mission Control setup as well... it's much cleaner than the previous few versions which started to get a bit bloated.

Does it still lack the blur effect in mission control? It doesn't really make a difference, but I'd think it would look less busy if it was just windows on a blurred background.

I love the new toolbar buttons. They're some of the best OS X has ever shipped. Far better than Yosemite.

At this very moment I love it and voted as such. That being said, if the poll was about Yosemite 10.10.4 I would have voted the very same way. My system flies since the last update of both. Happy Camper with both right now :):apple:

A very good OS.
I had many problems with Yosemite from the beginning till version 10.10.3.
10.10.4 was a little bit better ( I've always it on my partitioned HDD ) but I now use only Bêta El Capitan which is for me the best I've seen since a long time..
the problems that I had with Yosemite no longer exist ( and also Mavericks sometimes )like: WiFi breaks, black screen, pinned wheel, lags etc...
A very positive opinion of El Capitan

I love it so far and if things keep getting refined with each beta and public preview then I think that 10.11 will be that maintenance release that we've been clambering for. What I am hoping for is that for more of the subsystems are moved over to Metal but at the same time I'm realistic in that the development of Metal into a feature complete replacement for OpenGL will take several releases and not everything will be utilising Metal in the various frameworks on day one. One thing I have noticed though are how many parts of the the operation system are now tapping into OpenCL - it is great to see that after many years of it existing that Apple is taking advantage of what is on offer. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future with Metal v2.0 and future releases and whether in 2-3 years times all the various frameworks are moved off OpenGL to the point that OpenGL hangs around for legacy purposes, bug fixes made but nothing of an substance occurs other than keeping it there for those who need it.

I installed El Capitan on external hard drive and Mac Mini 2014 was faster compared to Yosemite. While it worked reasonable well I would never use beta software on my Minis main drive.

While speed is nice I hope Apple focuses more on bug fixes. Yosemite has been very disappointing, 10.10.4 is better but still nowhere close to Mavericks speed and stability wise. I hoped El Capitan would be Snow Leopard like under the hood improvements release. Based on publicly available information I am not certain if El Capitan is going far enough...

Furthermore I am a bit concerned about Rootless, it reminds me too much about iOS. While it can be disabled for now i fear Apple will make it mandatory later...

Running it on my MBA 2013 model. I can't say I notice anything different, mostly because I use it very lightly (Safari web browsing + essays and taking notes, as a college student). I do like the new font - I can read small texts more easily. Things ARE snappy, but it's always been snappy in my experience.

Being very honest here, font is the only thing I noticed that changed, aside from the sudden disappearance of 10GB storage data that I was experiencing headache over because I didn't install anything that big on my macbook. Those are really all I need though. I'm liking it.

I would place myself squarely in the "well, it's okay" camp. It is absolutely an improvement over Yosemite but I have always found the new visual style too blinding and lacking in contrast to feel comfortable using for long periods of time.

If the dark theme covered all of the GUI, that would be a considerable improvement for me but I really wish there were an "in between".

Functionality and performance-wise, my complaints are few and far between. I have no use for Notification Centre, Launchpad or any of the recent iOS-izations for that matter but they no longer seem to slow down the OS perceptibly and I can move them out of sight, so they're less of an annoyance than they once were.

I didn't seem to notice much of a difference although certain games seemed to play a little better. The public beta wound up being too buggy for my taste and I just now reverted back to Yosemite.

got my keychain access sorted with help of a 3 year old macrumors post .

Another OS X upgrade and having to search for a fix when inundated with password requests.

So far so good , I do like it , seems to be quite faster and much stable for a beta release. No applications problems so far , battery life on Mac Book Air 2013, is about the same as Yosemite in my case, compared to OS 9 beta that I installed in my iPhone 6 , is a winner.

Same. For now, I downgraded back to Yosemite. Began having issues where things like Finder windows were opening but were all blacked out, preventing me from seeing anything within that window. Mail issues kept getting worse until the other night when all settings kept getting wiped and not just the SMTP setting. Then the final nail in El Capitan came when apps simply refused to respond unless they were forced to quit. Safari, Mail, iTunes, Messages, etc...Had quite a few bug reports going on. Easy enough to revert back. Will try again when the next PB is released and whether anybody has issues. Kinda made me think there was some weird memory leak going on but who knows.

So far the poll results are mostly positive, that's good news for those of us who haven't taken the plunge. The upgrade definitely looks like a winner and I can't wait for apple to roll out the GM.

Despite it being a beta, it works much better on my 2011 MacBook Pro than Yosemite did, even after release and many months of patching.

It bodes well.

It's also very fast despite the fact that I don't get Metal.

I'im interested in running this. I've got a 2011 MBP (only one of course) and I don't have enough space to run a partition. I've been doing Yosemite beta since it came out. I've trying to delve into the bugs and if PB1 is worth it so far.

thoughts? Yes, I'd have to run on my main machine.
