Do you like the name "MacBook" better now after a few months have passed?

So what is the consensus on this one? Initially when the MacBook and MBP were announced the change of the name from Powerbook was not a well received change.

What's the feeling on that now?

i dislike the fact that everytime one says Macbook, one asks if you mean a MBP or a MB. It was easier with the powerbook and the ibook.

powerbook was definitely a superior name...if they absolutely had to change it, i woulda prefered something more...snazzy...its a pain having to explain urself and differentiate to everyone the difference between MB, MBP, and MP...

Same here. Powerbook still has a much nicer ring to it IMO. Macbook is an ok name.

I like macbook. They wanted to put mac in all the names and they did this; granted they could have been a bit more creative witht he names but i think its cool.

I still think the naming of MacBook/Macbook Pro was a little too similar sounding. I personally think they should have stuck with the "i" prefix maybe, iMacBook? eh, hell, iBook was fine.

When every Pentium-M on the market is more Powerful than your Powerbook it is time to come up with a new name... one that is not suggestive... such as Macbook Pro.

That's true, as long as they didn't display it prominently on the case (of course there's no reason why they would), and it still has the nice Apple logo, then it's all good.

I'm happy to see the "i"Products go. But I did like the Powerbook name. Either way over the past few months I've learned to accept the new name.

Hey at least they didn't name it the Wii.

Macbook reads better than it sounds aloud, but it isn't an awful switch. I definitely prefered PowerBook and iBook though.

Apple was correct to remove the "power" from the titles of their products, as they have moved away from the PowerPC architecture. But they should have stuck with the iBook name for the computer lines.

Consumer: iMac, iBook
Pro: Macbook Pro, Mac Pro

The macbook pro/macbook distinction is incredibly annoying and confuses people in converstation.

powerbook/ibook were a lot better and more distinctive. i understand how they had to drop the "power" because of the transition away from the powerpc. but they could have done something cooler with the names. macbook pro is fine, yet generic sounding. but there was really no reason to kill the ibook name and go to macbook for further confusion as noted by the other posts.

i miss the powermac and powerbook. actually, i don't miss them too much because i have one of both.

but mb/mbpro are growing on me, and hopefully they can do something in the future a bit more distinctive.

The prefix "Power" didn't necessarily mean a Mac was using a PowerPC processor, some of the first PowerBooks were running off the old 68k chips, so Apple could've kept the "i" and "Power" on their Intel notebooks. I'm in the same boat with shecky, I liked iBook and PowerBook better, but I don't hate the names MacBook/Pro as much as I did with they first came out. It kinda grew on me I guess.

Hey at least they didn't name it the Wii.

For the consumer line, I'm ambivalent - iBook or MacBook, actually lean towards MB, because I really dislike all the iStuff. It's big brother was better with PowerBook tho, MBP just doesn't ring and MacBookPro is too big of a mouthful for a little laptop. Don't even get me started on the MacPro...pffffffffft.
