iOS 11 simulates 3D touch in a few ways... for example on Control Center, a long press will act as if you 3D touched.

Yes, I miss it for only one function. The ability to move the cursor anywhere while typing. I catch myself pressing down on the screen trying to move the cursor almost everyday while using the iPad.

You can move the cursor anywhere by long press in the text field. I think that predates iOS 11.

Just hold two fingers on the space bar and you can move them all over the keyboard to place the cursor where you need it.
