I keep reading all these articles about the limited supply of the iPhone and Honestly how many of you really think your going to get an iPhone on launch. i think there is going to be alot of dissapointed people when the iPhone is on back order till late 2007. im not trying to be negative im just being realistic. Because my odds at getting one aren't very good. I mean how many of you really can just take days off just to camp outside a store for an phone. i certainly can't. im honestly thinking about bribing a cingular sales rep to hold one for me and ill throw him a hundred or something.

I say let the other people get them first, discover all the bugs, and then let me get the updated one. :D

my expectation is u won't need to camp outside, it won't be THAT difficult to get ... at that price tag..

Man! imagine what they'll be selling for on eBay. It'll be PS3 all over again. I think they'll sell out the first day, even though they are $500-$600 a piece, theres enough people willing to buy one. According to IphoneMatters theres only going to be about 150 units per store.

On release day, if I can help it! But I'm in Canada, so that'll be around the holiday shopping time at best.. Unless I can get one unlocked on Ebay

some areas, like NYC, will see high demand... others may have them days after launch. i dont see the stores in small town USA selling out of them. not everyone wants to pay $599 for a phone + data plan if it is indeed required. I plan on going right when the store opens. If people do camp, then so be it. But I dont see that happening--unlike the wii or PS3, this isnt available for everyone. not everyone has at&t, and most wont switch out of their contract with verizon or whoever else to get one either.

it will be big, but i dont see it like a PS3 or wii.

but, i do hope most stores get them. when i got my v3xx razr platinum, only the corporate stores had them in town, and the regular ones got them later. the kiosks still may not get them.

i do think that people will camp out at apple stores all over the country, but much less at at&t stores. i bet they wont be hard to get there.

I'm getting one of the new MBP's and if the Back To School thing is like last years, i hope they let me put the discount towards an iPhone

If the iPhone is $500 with no rebates or discounts, plus $100/month+ for the data and voice plan, then I probably won't be getting one. Seems like a waste IMO when I probably wouldn't use half of its features. I'd rather wait until the end of the year and pick up the same design but as an iPod (one can only hope :p).

Although, if there ARE big savings that haven't been announced yet, THEN I might opt for one.

If they won't, just grab a nano and get the rebate back for that, sell the unopened nano for a little bit less than retail, and then apply that money towards your iPhone.

If I don't get one on the launch day, I won't be suicidal, but I will be a little bummed.

I gambled and scheduled off June 15th. But if that's not the day, I would like to get it within the week of the launch.

If at all possible I'll be getting one the first day. I hope it's not as crazy as the PS3 although AHduke99 made some good points.

To be honest i really dont think it is about the money about why people arent going to get the iPhone. i think that initially it will be too crazy to get one and most people cant just take a week off to camp out. Also they cant get out of there current carrier or just refuse to use cingular. 500 dollars isnt alot of money for what you are getting. i think the majority of the people that will be camping out will be college kids who are out of school for summer and there parents gave them the money, and those really geeky guys that still live in there moms basement at 45 years old. Otherwise i dont see how normal working people are just going to be able to get it come launch.

Or you can just try to convince someone to buy it for you ;). I'm buying one fo sho. I'll sell a few AAPL share I bought at $14 for it....:D

it all depends on whether or not a data plan is mandatory. I dont want a data plan unless its less than 20 bucks which is unlikely.
