With the choice between Xs and Xs Max I thought it would be interesting to see what Plus users thought of getting a bigger phone. Do most love the experience or find it an awkward size to use?

Poll- Do you regret getting a Plus size phone?

Edit :
If you do regret it can you post a quick comment on why? Especially just mention if you are male or female as of course there is a hand size difference , thanks :)

I have an 8 plus and going for the xs max, it’s hard to go back to a small phone, the 8 plus is feeling small in a way probably because the full screen max is coming and it will be a great phone with it being all screen :). And better battery life too. So no I don’t regret it

Same boat, 8 plus and going to the max.

Love big screens, I have a feeling the screen on the max is going to be a game changer.

I've had both. I bought a X as I thought the 6+ was large. Lost the X, and have been using the 6+. Now i'm getting the Max

I regretted it at one point. I was getting tired of the ergonomics and hand fatigue while using it one-handed. So when I upgraded from the 6+, I downsized to the 7. Loved it at first, but after a few months, I missed the larger screen and battery. Sold the 7 for a 7+. Will never go to a regular size again.

I had the 7+ and upgraded to the X. This is basically the perfect screen size minus it being just a bit small for extended video use.

Ahh interesting a nuanced opinion. So after using the X you missed the larger screen of the plus?

I found that the reasoning about the size I had initially wasn't much of an issue. I didn't like ANY size in my pants pockets, so I tended to hold it in my hand or a coat pocket.

Hence the Max

(Also, I like the Max, screw it...sort of thing :D )

I’ve had + size phones since the 6. I remember being in the Apple store getting my 6 and a girl in line with me chatting with me and harassing me about not going with the 6+ (okay not really HARASSING, but basically just telling me I should’ve gone for the bigger phone). Within a couple months, I passed my 6 to one of my kids and got the 6+ and I have had every + phone since.

The main reason I didn’t get the X last year was because of the overall size, and I really planned to keep my 8+ for a long time, but the Max convinced me to go ahead and take the plunge, and I am SUPER pumped!

Just out of curiosity, what made you decide to replace your 8 Plus with the Max, given that you had originally planned to keep it longer?

I’m assuming it’s because it’s the same size as his 8 yet the screen is from edge to edge.

Maybe, but I assume that most people knew that was coming last year, but he had originally planned to keep his 8 Plus anyway. I’m just wondering if there’s more to it.

I have an 8 Plus as well so I’m just wondering why people are choosing to replace it, so I can decide if any reason makes sense to me, maybe even one I hadn’t considered.

Despite having long figures, I haven't gotten used to the 7+ in the 18 months I've owned it. I was much more productive on the smaller iPhones.

That said, it's holding up quite well, so I'll be hanging on it to for least the two year mark.

I have no intention of going back to a small phone but my wife went from a 7+ to an 8. Only reason she regretted it was the portrait lighting feature. Now that the Xs has it, she would have no interest in going big again.

I made a post on this last night so I’ll just paste it here:

I finally decided to actually cancel my pre-order entirely and it was difficult to pull that button and lose my shipping spot lol. Few reasons:

1. The price. I simply cant justify paying that much for a "phone" that is going to essentially have the same OS I'm already currently using. I even convinced my self the price wasn't too bad at first, but with the qualms of #2 and #3, I couldn't rationalize being uncomfortable at that price.

2. Weight. The XS Max is 20 grams heavier than my already heavy 7 Plus. At times my wrists get tired from holding the phone up and I simply cant imagine getting an even heavier phone. This is one area that hit me the hardest when the XS Max was announced. Lighter would've been best, same weight is doable, but heavier? I can't.

3. Size/pocket-ability. Having the larger screen has always been an added benefit, but im starting to realize that for me, its not worth the trade off of being able to pocket the phone. Its one of the things I miss about my 6. Its just so lumpy in my front pocket and dont feel safe keeping it in my back pocket when i'm out especially in crowded places like concerts, events, etc. It feels exposed. Although the Max is less wide and shorter than the Plus, that is cancelled out once you add a case which I would've done anyway.

Having the size of the X is perfect because I still get the same Plus size screen, but I get it in a smaller form factor with the addition of FaceID and the OLED screen. I know I will miss the battery life but I generally fair out ok in that department. I'd rather play with the Max in the stores first and hopefully make a better, clear decision. Hope you all enjoy your phones when they arrive!

Well honestly, when they were originally talking about a bigger X, I was thinking it might be larger than the 8+ and not basically the same size phone with a larger screen. I guess that coupled with my decision to suck it up and embrace the Face ID that I was really on the fence about. I also like some of the new camera features as well.

I didn’t make my decision until after the keynote, but now I’m really excited.

And FYI, I’m a her - not a him. Just thought I’d clarify. ;-p

I have an 8 Plus (two of them actually). I love Touch ID. I tried an X and liked Face ID at first but then it became unreliable over the month I had it. I found the narrowness of the X to feel a bit odd and confining. I had not intended to upgrade this year but Apple finally gave me stereo audio recording capability and I just had to have it. So I’ll trade one 8 Plus for an XS Max.

I was initially planning to get the XS because I still have cases and unused display protectors for the X I had. But there was a miscommunication between my husband and I during the groggy preorder we tried to enter. And I ended up with a preorder for a Max size version of the Gold XS I wanted. I have been reading around and it looks like a good option for me. I’ll give it a chance. It really was the stereo audio capability and promise of a better modem that enticed me to give up the 8 Plus I had failed to buy Apple Care Plus for.

I originally balked at the price, but I realized that last year I spent $950 on my 8+ because I got a 256 gb version. I’m only using about 27 gigs, so to buy the X Max 64 was only $150 more, which equated to about $4-5 a month on my IUP, so I figured why not. It’s my absolutely most used device. However, this is certainly my top end. I doubt I’d ever pay more for a phone than this.

I haven’t really considered the weight, but I don’t think the Max is that much heavier than the 8+. If so, I may be returning it and holding out for the XR.

The pocketability is a non-issue for me because I have never put a phone in my pocket, but I know that’s a big issue for a lot of people.
