People tend to slowly get used to feature changes but price is another story. For anybody who are unsure about the notch right now, the extra premium puts them off further. If the 6.1” LCD iPhone materialises this year and has a notch, I think that will be the true test of whether it puts people off or not. I do know people who stuck to their views when the iPhone 6 went bigger and they felt the 5 was big enough. One iPhone doesn’t fit all like it used to and consumers now have enough choice not to accept things they don’t like these days.

Not sure how much choice iPhone buyers will have in September as strong rumors indicate a notch for all of the new iPhones. For me the notch is not an issue and even if it were it would not be a big enough issue to get me to move to Android.

I do understand the the notch is unacceptable for some, I am just not one of them.

That is why I referred to the 6.1” LCD iPhone possibly having the notch like the rumours suggest. It will be more of a telling example than the X which is more niche.

The notch wouldn’t stop me buying an iPhone despite me thinking it looks like poor design. It’s just one of those things you have to accept if you want to continue using the iPhone. It doesn’t mean you can’t have a strong opinion on it. I still think it was crappy to get rid of the headphone jack, but my next iPhone won’t have one and i’ll adapt to that by using the adapter.

One thing consumers can do though is get a cheaper iPhone. That’s one thing Apple can’t really control. You either buy the cheaper alternatives or buy last years model.

yes. it's a good phone but not $1000 good. faceid misses too often and while the notch isn't something i notice anymore, it's unacceptable on such an expensive device.

"FaceID misses too often" really? You must be so ugly you broke it. ;) I'm actually amazed at how much it adapts. At first it never used to work if I had a cigarette in my mouth but would work perfectly otherwise. Now it even works if I'm smoking. I find this really impressive how it can learn stuff like that tbh.

It’s flawless - never has a misread yet. Even with a hoodie and sunglasses on. Nails me.

You DO have to look directly at it though. No side glimpses.

Another thing to love about Face ID is that as long as you’re looking at your phone even if you’re on low battery mode it never dims after 30 seconds. As long as you keep looking at the phone it knows you’re there and won’t allow the low battery mode’s auto dim to work. This is a fabulous feature if you think about it.

Wow, that's great to know. Since I've never gone below 45% in a day on a single charge (certainly a fabulous feature right there) on my iPhone X I didn't know what it's low power behavior was.

And don't forget that Face ID is a dream when it comes to banking apps; where my iPhone 6 used to time out once a month for security reasons and force me to re-enter my credentials, the iPhone X doesn't do this at all, a simple glance for Face ID and one can go years without having to type in userids and passwords.

Thats optional though. Go into Face ID & Passcode and uncheck "Require Attention for Face ID"

Well - what would that even do? If it can’t see your face - and it still unlocks your phone that would be no Security at all. Clicking a button like that would be akin to simply turning off Passcode & FaceID all together.

It still scans your face either way and makes sure your face is present in the field of view. With attention on you must also be looking at the phone.

So I don’t have to be looking directly at the phone with my eyes - when that button is off?

Hmm.. who knew... thx!

When I had my X it wouldn't even unlock if I had my glasses off. I literally spent 80% of the time typing in a password. THAT didn't bother me but my blurry camera did. My store took 10 photos with it and only 1 came out decent and they said there was nothing wrong with it. It would also randomly reset through out the day and it reset on them, they said it was perfect and wouldn't exchange it for me. They tried to refuse a return as well (Best buy). I'm just going to wait a year or two before I buy the next X version.

It's true! And almost all of it comes from this guy Ming-Chi Kuo and a year or two later the haters conveniently forget all of his dreadful mistakes and act like it never happened.

Ming Kuo has made mistakes with predictions in the past, but not analyst is perfect. But by far, there is no one that has the insider information that he has shared with over the years with his accuracy and source knowledge. If there was one analyst I wouldn’t Rely on, it would be him.

You either had a defective phone or faceID was wonky. Mine unlocks 95% of the time on the 1st try with glasses on, glasses off, contact in, contact out, sunglasses on, sunglasses off...

Blurry camera? Again you must have had a defective unit as mine takes stellar photos..

I think perhaps he’s dismissing Ming Kuo’s tips because he’s not familiar with his track record and also because there are strong suggestions an X Plus variant is in the pipeline and he’s vehemently denied beyond reasonable doubt that isn’t going to happen in his own opinion.

Exactly. I’d take that phone back.... Mine works perfect. Even with a scarf on.

My Face ID works pretty decent... even when I first wake up and only have one eye open... lol... at first I always had to have both eyes wide open but for some reason lately I’ve only one eye open.

if i lay down, it doesn't work, if i take my glasses off it doesn't work, if i don't look at it dead center, it doesn't work. literally every single person who has reviewed the phone has stated exactly this, even gruber.

If You have attention awareness disabled, the sensors/camera won’t focus on your eyes to unlock your iPhone as well.
