Do you still experience lag with Yosemite?

Hey guys, since I installed the first Public Beta on my rMBP 2012 the GM 2 seem the fastest release so far. However I am still experiencing occasional UI lag, especially in Mission Control (something that did not happen in Mavericks), when switching between desktops and scrolling in iTunes and pdf files.
I was wondering if anyone has similar experience?
 
Yes, but they improved it in the last two GM candidates, its much better now. still, it should be smoother sometimes.
 
Yeah choppiness is precisely what I mean, and I forgot to say that this only applies to retina MacBooks.
 
I am getting TONSSS of lag in the mouse when moving it around the screen. Running public beta 5, using airplay on an external monitor via hdmi, and using a wireless trackpad/ keyboard. Both with fresh batteries. According to activity monitor my rMBP is bogged down or anything either.

It seems that all of this started when I upgraded to yosemite...
 
Little or no lag with Yosemite on a 2012 rmpb. As long as I stay away from flash, everything runs smoothly... And that's running off an external USB drive instead of the internal SSD.

I'm kind of looking forward to this one. :)
 
So Mission Control is flawless and smooth? It's strange on my computers. Some things are smooth, but, for example, mission control is super laggy
 
I bought the latest 15'' rMBP a week ago (integrated Intel Iris Pro graphics) and immediately put GMC1 on it. Terrible lag all over especially on low battery and with Mission Control. I updated to the latest beta (GMC3) yesterday and I have yet to see any lag except for when switching the tabs in 'About This Mac' (this one seems like a general bug rather than a performance issue).

I also applies to other Macs. Window resizing and scrolling can be choppy in areas where Mavericks is very smooth.
 
Is there anyone who can maybe tell me how they experiencing Yosemite on a mid 2010 Mac pro? (The silver tower)

I haven't even moved from ML for fear of lag and sluggish UI.

You should have. Mavericks is a superior OS.

I agree. Yosemite seems better than Mavericks, and Mountain Lion was better than Mavericks. I've had nothing but trouble with Mavericks. This week the finder has been crashing every time I've used spotlight with 'show all in finder'. Along with terrible Battery, slow boot, stuttering its driven me crazy.

that's a problem on your side. just because it doesn't work on your machine doesn't meant it doesn't in general. who knows what you did to your system.

well i call BS because mavericks is smoother on my 2007 iMac. it MUST be better on your mac pro, lol. MT lion and lion are forgettable systems, really. Mavericks was to those what Snow leo was to Leo.
 
I'm having no problems at all on my mid-2012 13in Macbook Air (the base 4 gig of ram). Seems good and zippy, battery life doesn't seem to have changed at all, or it might be slightly better.
 
Actually if we exclude the finder, I would say the performance is quite good already.

But I can't understand some of decisions like making full screen and minimizing animations so long... Time consuming animations are useful when they are covering loading time, not when doing simple tasks IMO.

Minimizing animation can be fixed by changing it to suck or scale effect, but you can do nothing about at times extremely annoying full screen animation.

well i call BS because mavericks is smoother on my 2007 iMac. it MUST be better on your mac pro, lol. MT lion and lion are forgettable systems, really. Mavericks was to those what Snow leo was to Leo.

Not just me, heaps of people had the same issues. Nothing wrong with my Macbook which is a 2012 model. In the time I've had Mavericks, It had the motherboard and Harddrive replaced, neither of which fixed anything. I clean install at least once a year, and I've clean installed Mavericks more times than I would have liked. Experienced similar problems over multiple Macs, 2 iMacs (2010,2012), MacBooks (2008,2011,2012) and Mac Minis, and numbers of friends and family who have also upgraded to Mavericks.

My finder is still crashing each time I click 'Show all in finder' and scroll, cover view in finder stuffs up all the time, Safari crashes regularly etc etc. I'm glad Maavericks has been good for you but its been train wreck for a heap of people. Mountain Lion was not, and Lion was not either. Lion was a little slow at the time, but it was sped up and it was NOT as buggy (At least for me).

Luckily Yosemite seems far better with this, far less lag and stupid issues.

Well I don't know what to say. Mavericks has been the best system on my 2007 iMac, 2009 Mac mini and 2012 MBA. I can't recall ANY bug, slowdown, crash or anything . Maybe because I have SSDs? Snow leopard was the last usable system on a Hdd for me. Lion was a PAIN. Mountain lion was, like, ok I guess, but still slow as hell. Then I put SSDs in all my computers and installed Mavericks. Never had any problem since.
 
Definitely a good amount of lag due to the translucency on my late 2013 13" Retina MacBook Pro. Disabling translucency completely gets rid of it.

So yeah, uh... Retina 27" iMacs? A Retina MacBook Air? Both with Yosemite? That'll be i–n————teeressstin-g.:rolleyes:
