Do you think Apple will fix notifications in iOS 11?

I am thinking about jumping ship and switching to Android. I LOVE my iPhone 7 Plus, but the one thing that I can not stand is how unreliable the notifications are on iOS 10. There is a limit to how many times an app can remind you. Half the time when I clear one notification from an app, it clears ALL the notifications from that app. So reminders for my to do app are useless. I tried out an Android and I could not believe the difference. The notifications actually worked and didn't disappear until I acted on them.

Do you think there is any chance Apple will fix notifications in iOS 11? Or do you think Apple even cares? I want to stay with Apple, but notifications are a deal breaker for me. I feel like I can't rely on my phone!!
 
I care more about the functionality then how it looks. When 2 Do gives me 5 notifications at the same time and all 5 get cleared when I click on one of them, making it so I can't snooze the other notifications and the reminders become lost, that's broken!

That frustrates me!! You would think Apple has the resources to get notifications right. That's what makes me wonder if it's a priority to them.

I am thinking if they do fix notifications, it won't be anytime soon, so I could always switch to Android for now and come back later. I would wait if I thought iOS 11 was going to majorly update the notifications, but doesn't sound likely.

Not sure why group notifications were removed in the first place. I happened to like them, but overall as notifications stand now they are pretty good.
 
I've been using iOS for ~4 years now (after switching from Android), and have still not gotten used to all the quirks of iOS notifications. Some of it seems possibly due to restrictions placed on 3rd-party developers. (I actually have the *opposite* annoyance of the OP... notifications that *don't clear* from the NC, even when you've viewed the "event" in the app. Google's iOS apps are notorious for this, ironically enough.)

The other main thing I miss from Android is widgets on the lockscreen / homescreen (instead of tucked away on a page where they're out of sight, out of mind).

The intended functionality I believe Apple wants us to take out from it is 'I see the app's notifications, and I am ready to open the app and check everything I have to check'. It is most likely on the app developers' fault that they do not follow Apple's guidelines and system behavior to make the experience for users better.

Have each of you all uploaded the sysdiagnose log files to apple, without which they will not do anything.
I have uploaded mine.
 
Hope they reduce the size of notification banners and also bring back 'sort notifications by app' - which they removed without explaining why.

wow it's funny how perspective can differ from one person to another. I thought Android notifications were horrible and unbearable and that Apple got it right. Last year when I had a note 7 I absolutely hated notifications and was one of the things I appreciated most when I came back to the iPhone.

No, because apple's previous general product manager was replaced by an man who knew only about industrial design and had no idea about product design in terms of functionality. Yes, because they are losing customers to android, thus losing money which is the thing they really care instead of product.

That is so not true. Apple cares a lot about making a good product. I guess notifications were just one thing they messed up though, and something they will most likely improve on with iOS 11, especially since iOS 11 has been rumored to feature a complete redesign. Which is surprising, since the last major iOS redesign was with iOS 7, which was 6 years after iOS first became a thing.

Where has it been rumored to be a complete redesign? They just tweaked the design in iOS 10.

I know tweaking isn't the same as a redesign but to date there has been a pattern regarding bigger design changes and tweaks in iOS which is every 3 versions. iOS 4, 7, and 10 have all included such changes. In theory I'd assume full overhauls would be 6 years apart. Wouldn't be surprised if we got dark mode in iOS 11 though.. who knows?
 
No, there's not going to be 10.4 and there will be no overhaul of notifications prior to 11, and maybe not even then.
