They still released the 13 mini format because the tooling was already done and finished.

I could see them re-use the mini shell to create an SE mini

Apple will reserve ProMotion for their Pro products, just like they did with retina displays. Oh wait…

It's long gone mate, not selling well.

Not selling well? It still sold more units globally than the nearest rival on android of a specific device. So only 6% total iPhone sales may look small on paper, but that’s still a massive amount sold overall, and selling even better this year I’d wager.

And who told you it wasn’t selling well? Because this year for example there are many, many more posts about the 13 mini than there are of the regular 13, same on Reddit and other places. Sales were handicapped last year because it launched late and people are impatient with tech like phones. Many who would have bought the mini, and are this year, bought the regular one and would then post their regret later.

The tooling for the mini iPhones is all in place, maybe a rename to the new SE with the current 13 internals is one option, but I don’t think it will just be axed same as they kept the 12 mini in the lineup this year, they didn’t have to do that.

Also, Apple will have to either keep the mini or lower the prices of the regular models, otherwise there’s a massive increase in price to get yourself the latest iPhone.
The other aspect, is Apple don’t care about keeping products that “don’t sell” even though I think the figures this year are going to be surprising, look at the iPod, Apple TV etc. Low sales figures, but they keep them in the lineup.

If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. But right now my point is, no one knows what’s going to happen.

I really hope not. This is the one feature that I'm just dying for it to no longer be relegated to a 'Pro' feature. It's already remained exclusive to Pro devices for four years, I think it's time to bring it down to the consumer-level devices a la the Retina Display and so many other features that have trickled down faster.

That being said I think it's fairly likely that the base iPhones remain at 60Hz next year.

Look out, guys. We have someone who works in Apple’s accounting division leaking sales numbers.

Get real, guy. There are a lot of people NOT buying the Pro models. Most of us don’t need a phone with a macro function just so we can take bad photos of our food to post on online forums.

Wait and see, the mini is no more, come September 2022. 💀🪦

it’s definitely going to happen, no idea if it will be next year or longer than that.

I have the 13 Pro and love the 120Hz display, when I use my wife’s fantastic 13 Mini I do notice the choppiness. The high refresh rate really makes a difference and makes everything so silky smooth and responsive.

Production cost will force them to use 120hz in all their products eventually. Currently paying for multiple production lines works financially, but that won't always be the case. Its like 3.5 HDD's, 500gb is going to be your bare minimum for the most part, the effort to build smaller when you are operating at a razor margins just isn't viable.
