It's going to hammer resale value.

First - fewer new phones will be sold, that alone will affect resale.

If fewer new iPhones are being sold it means that more aftermarket iPhones are being sold, thus driving up aftermarket prices.

Anyone buying an iPhone in the aftermarket will be guaranteed a fresh battery, either by the seller or by Apple themselves, thus making aftermarket iPhone's more desirable and driving up aftermarket prices.

It's amazing how little people know about business.

Assume if people will spend 25 dollars for the battery replacement and sell. LOL....

Where I live, used iPhone 6 64GB are selling for $225 and 128GB are selling for $400.

$29 for a battery is inconsequential financially, but very important emotionally. The buyer of a used iPhone 6 knows that he can walk into an Apple store and walk out with a new OEM battery for $29. That's a major benefit never offered to aftermarket buyers before.

Another reason to say "thank you" to Apple and stop the whining. You have Hyundai phone. You should be happy.

Judging by what I just sold my son’s SE and my 7+ for, the aftermarket hasn’t been affected at all. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it will improve it. Buy an older phone and it’s throttled, pay $29 for a new battery.

Precisely.

Knowing that every iPhone on Craigslist a) can be throttle-tested via a free app and b) will be owed an $80 OEM battery for only $29 is a big win for the aftermarket.

I intend to sell my 4 iPhone 6's for big money for just this reason. I was originally going to hold onto them in case of emergency for the 4 iPhone X's in the family, but the money will be too good to resist methinks.
