Does anyone notice an appreciable improvement in performance by adding RAM? I've asked a few friends that have added RAM and they can't tell a difference. My 2010 iMac only has the original 4 gig of RAM but it's definitely showing it's age these days.

I think the CPU and spinner HDD are likely the biggest bottlenecks in your system.

What does RAM usage look like typically?

I’m running a 10 year old AMD CPU with 4GB RAM and Windows 10 flies on the machine. I’m only upgrading because it can’t do 4K (or even 1080@60fps) and the parts are physically deteriorating.
