I think Apple has also learned from it's past.

"A woman from Queens, N.Y., sued Apple Inc. last week over the iPhone, saying that the company broke several laws when it cut the price of the device last month by $200 and then issued a $100 credit to some owners.

It was the first known lawsuit resulting from the 33% price cut, which raised a ruckus among iPhone users and forced Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs to apologize for how Apple had treated loyal customers."

There won't be any price cuts, but it's -to me- as sure as it gets that as soon as the new iphone/pods roll out in August/September with the new toshi flash capable of 128gbs in the ipod touch, the ipad will be getting new flash upgrades, and we 'll be looking at 32, 64 and 128gb models.

Will the price drop? Yes. It's a law.
Will there be a version 2 with better capabilities? Yes. Same law.
How long will it take? 1 year, typically. Same law.
Will a fanboy challenge this post? Yes. Also a law. ;)

The price will probably never drop too much, they will add features to newer iPads and charge $499 for the entry level model. At least that's what they normally do for other products. In other words, the iPad will likely never be $199 or so.

Funny how the first person to mention "fanboy" is usually more fanatical than the people he tries to mock.
