Might have something to do with the fact that we own both Apple and Android products, unlike some people that only own Apple, yet for some idiotic reason feel the need to troll a section of the forum designed specifically for non-iOS users.
Uh, you do realize that the entire reason this forum was created was because there was constant trolling of every iOS forum about Android and its devices?

And from this forum's populace and posts, we can garner there never was trolling from the Android camp. Quite the contrary, it's the iOS camp that seems happy to just start arguments, apparent by all the "Android hate/iOS praise" getting posted in a forum about alternatives to iOS. ;)

Very strange logic.

Very strange logic.

No strange logic. The flames and arguments moved from the iPhone forum to here, a place to discuss alternatives peacefully. To me, that says a lot about which camp actually started the arguments.

If you're in the "iOS" camp, why are you clicking on this forum is not to annoy and rile up the other members ?

They exist everywhere. I even got singled out by mod here who gave me a warning just for using the topic above in a post.

That being said, I own both platforms on various devices. On the Apple side of things, I have a rarely used full carrier unlocked iPhone 4S and a iPad 2. I also own two Android phones one of which is a Galaxy S2 and a entry level model I keep as a backup.

People have accused me of being a "fandroid" multiple times. The reason I use an Android phone is not only the audio chip in my iPhone broken, the larger screen is really nice.

I like to compare both as Macs and Windows computers. The iPhone is a closed system. End of story. Jail breaking violates the Apple EULA. I have a full carrier unlocked model. Thankfully I don't have to mess around with that.

With the Android platform, you can compare many of the different forms of hardware to a Windows PC. All the different devices built to run a common platform.

I like both and both have pros and cons, still, I think it's just insane to judge others by what kind of phone they carry.

It wasn't trolling. It was discontent with how poorly the iPhone 5's reveals were which led to outright criticism which led to further discussion of the alternatives.

I didn't vote because I am not confident that there is a concrete answer.

My personal findings from trolling (in a good way) MR forums for 3 years and just now Android Central and Xda is that (at least using these forums as a basis) there seem to be a lot more level headed and less hostile posts on Xda and AC than there is on MR.

There are some "fanboys" on this site that genuinely freak me out. Completely blind and devoted to iOS and anything Apple to the point where they seem unable to logically discuss any possible alternative.

I find myself feeding the trolls more on MR because on the AC/XDA forums it really seems that a lot of people who post on there KNOW their stuff and aren't just spouting opinions or beliefs. I tend to behave a bit better there because I know I will get called to task for anything stupid I say there.

So as far as quality of fanboys/fangurls I tend to find that Android persons tend to be a bit more open minded. Apple fans tend to be a lot more faith driven.

I can't speculate to a majority in either camp because I am sure that other than us nerd/geeks/forum lurkers, that there are millions of users for each side that don't need to preach their products but are still enjoying them very much.

A brilliantly fair and observant post. I agree with this except that I definitely think there's more fanboys on the Apple legion.

A better question is why Android fanboys love to congregate in Apple watering holes.

You certainly dont see swaths of iPhone and iPad users lingering in android haunts.

Tech, you have asked this question in other forums and people have always (well almost always) answered intelligently along the lines of:

I still like other Mac products, I own multiple products, some of which are Apple, I like to share with people who have similar or slightly differing opinions etc etc. There are some of the same sounding answers in this thread to that question which repeats those in other forums or at the very least I am sure you have read forums with similar question asked and the answers generally are the same.

Why do you still keep asking? Haven't the many people who have posted similar answers to your posts convinced you of their reasons enough that you can stop asking that particular question?

Which still doesn't explain the propensity for posting insipid trolling nonsense in the iPhone and iPad section.

Oh I can't disagree that there are certain members here who purposely rile up other members. They exist on both sides.

Really, really not true. It's been happening pretty much daily since Android became a major competitor to iOS. The iPhone forum had multiple threads created daily about how much better this Android phone or that Android phone was and how the iPhone is awful.

I also can't speak about other forums as I don't actively participate in any other technology forums. However, just take a look at BGR comments and tell me how Android fans are more open-minded. You can find comments from any side that make said side look ridiculous. I try to ignore those people.

Let's be honest. Anything that isn't postive acclaim for Apple is considered trolling over there. You get called a troll just for discussing the need for a new feature over there.

It's been happening since the iPhone was revealed to be headed in the direction of the taller-not-wider screen. It got even worse than iOS6 was shown in early June to be quite frankly, a disappointing upgrade.

The criticism launched at Apple in the other subforums that resulted in this subforum being made. is entirely the result of a self-inflicted wound on Apple's part.

We're not in those sections. In fact, in this section, it's the opposite that is guilty of what you accused others of doing, it's people that keep baiting users of other platforms than iOS.

The question then becomes, why do the "only iOS is good" crowd want to hang around this sub-forum ? Have you asked yourself that lately ?

Sure, but now they're easier to spot than ever. They post flamebait in the opposing forum. So it's easy to spot the "contrarians just looking for an argument".

Why would I? I like Windows Phone quite a bit so I don't subscribe to what you're saying.

Another question becomes "why do the iOS or Windows Phone only, Android is bad" crowd hang around threads dedicated to Android in a sub-forum dedicated to iOS alternatives ?

What forces these people to click and then proceed to piss in everyone's cereal with little regards to facts ?

The people I despise the most here are the iPhone people who come into this Alternatives subforum and police it, calling people "trolls" if they see any iPhone bashing going on.

It's not enough that we get our own sandbox to play in, the iPhone guys get bored of not having anybody to argue with over in the iPhone subforums so they come and pee in our sandbox.

They literally want zero criticism of the iPhone anywhere on this site, as if our criticism of the iPhone on a site with the word "Mac" in its title is somehow an injustice that must be eradicated with zeal.

This was though :

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1434349/

Yet I see a few self claimed " I like Windows Phone quite a bit so I don't subscribe to what you're saying." people in there.

Really, those people are not fooling anyone about their real motive. Why they feel the need to hang around sub-forums and threads for product that don't interest them is beyond me.

If so, why a majority of threads started by you in this forum are rants against Android?

And you accuse others of trolling?

I have 4 or 5 threads in this section, and they are all quite old at this point, most of which were moved here after the section was created...So what exactly are you referring to?
