Me too, I thought for sure they'd be uploads, and in the end, they were matched, which was nice since it allowed me to snag better quality tracks!

I have a bunch of tracks that got matched and gave me higher quality tracks...which is really cool. I also had some tracks that were skippy...I was able to delete them and re-download them...and they are now fine.

Unless iTunes adds more of the CDs I own to the US store, which would surprise me very much since I had to import the darn things, then I'll probably skip out on Match altogether since this is what makes up 95% of my iTunes library. The service looks interesting, but the lack of offerings isn't going to get me to bite.

You can download them in advance of your commute. Say as your about to leave the house, download 1 or 2 albums for your commute. It only takes a few minutes while you do other morning tasks on your way to work. That could be an option. FWIW i thought most of my songs would have to be uploaded too, but Apple did match a lot of my stuff that was odd ball type stuff, so you never know! Good luck

That's true, but I can just wifi sync on my way out.

While thats true, the point of the cloud is to simplify things by giving us access everywhere. And manually downloading songs prior to leaving the house is a chore that most of us would forget to do.

What I would prefer (and would be a good value add to keep us back next year) is to allow a genius streaming track. IF we're only using it on a commute then we may value a lower bandwidth streaming playlist over a high bitrate manual download that forces some of us to monitor our 2GB data usage.

Has anyone had issues with iTunes match draining their battery like crazy? Since activating the phone, my standby time has been going down much faster than normal.

I'm trying to figure out the heart of the problem - the entire library is already synced, that's for sure. Has anyone else had this problem and are there any possible solutions? I'm starting to regret activating this on my phone...

i was initially really eager to get this cloud of music, but after playing around with it, it seems too buggy for an apple product. The "it just works" philosophy hasn't been implemented very well with iTunes match.

i like the streaming part in iTunes. i keep a back up of my music on an external hd, and i can delete the 50 gigs of music off of my tiny macbook air, saving a lot of space. everything streams moderately well from iTunes and does not download onto my hd.

nevertheless, on the iPhone this service is a joke. i want to listen to a song and not wait 10 minutes for it to play. 3g speeds are slow for this. i'd really like to get a lower quality stream and get it now...why does it have to be downloaded?

i'm testing out rdio now, and google music, both seem to be better at serving up the music than apple.

Agreed, it's a chore. But it is the only suggestion and thing I've done in this situation so far. I can't comment on the 2GB data cap, as I am still on unlimited, but i can imagine it'd be a pain.

Streaming, I agree, is the way it should be done, and I'm willing to bet they'd add streaming one day(it was in the betas once right). For now though I am content, and at least I can stream my icloud/match from my Mac which is nice, for now;)

I wonder which takes longer though?? I'd assume just downloading the tracks would be quicker, since syncing involves more than just music??? I'd be curious which was faster...sync or just download from match

I had the same issue on my iPad, but it somehow went away after some combination of signing out and back in to my iTunes account, turning iTunes Match on and off in settings and restarting the iPad. Weird.

Funny thing is, I would prefer it to NOT use my meta data...I have several tracks that have either lacking or poor meta data and I would like to have it corrected with what they have.

Is there a way to turn this feature off?

From what I've read, no. Match keeps your metadata even when grabbing the iTunes versions.

I was presently surprised to see iTunes match 11,000 out of 12,600. I'll subscribe next year just so I can always have my entire library with me. I've got a ton of tracks that had to uploaded as iTunes doesn't carry them. If for whatever reason Match was able to match my entire library, I'd cancel my sub as I only buy from iTunes now.
