I'm just wondering for those who use a Mac Pro use a laptop or tablet as much, more or less on a day to day basis.

I use my iPad2 regularly to look stuff up, especially if the Mac Pro is switched off (cos the iPad is instant-on) or if it is in Bootcamp and I am playing something like Skyrim or Eve Online. It is very convenient.

The iPad sits in portrait orientation between the keyboard and screen, resting on a felt soft-cover I store it in when not in use and propped at an angle on a little wooden block.

At work, I use my Mac Pro a lot more than my MacBook Pro. The only time I use the laptop at work is if I'm traveling, or if I'm stuck in a conference room for a meeting.

At home, my Mac Pro sits idle mostly until I need to do something with it. Instead, I use same said MacBook Pro a lot. It sits on my kitchen counter where I check email/surf/etc regularly with it. At the moment, I'm in my basement working out (posting between sets) and the laptop is here with me. It serves as my music player as well as a way to keep track of my weight lifting progress.

I had an iPad2 for all of a month before selling it. I'm not tablet-compatible, it appears.

Laptop is always on, main use as an office computer. The Mac Pro gets fired up for work - photoshop and fcp

I have an 8 Core 2.26Ghz Mac Pro with 24GB RAM, a Quad core 2.3Ghz i7 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM (Antiglare screen) and a 16GB iPad 2.
My Mac Pro is the most cherished of them and my 'serious' Mac.
I use it mainly for creating music using Logic and also dabble in occasional video and Photoshop work.
However, the MacBook Pro is my 'main' computer and the one I use on a daily basis. I do about 70% off my stuff on it. It's incredibly powerful for a laptop and can accomplish most of the tasks that my Mac Pro would be used for. It's portability means it goes with me everywhere and it runs demanding applications like Photoshop with ease.
That said, on a recent side by side video file conversion, my Mac Pro still beat the crap out of the MacBook Pro (5 times faster) and The extra HD's, Optical drive (Blu Ray writer) and expansion PCIe slots (currently housing extra FW400 & USB2 ports), make the Mac Pro 'The Daddy' and irreplaceable for me.
The iPad is okay, but really just a bigger version of my iPhone. If it doesn't fit in your pocket, it may as well be a laptop in my opinion!
My wife likes it though. She uses it for Facebook, checking emails and BBC iPlayer (I do that on my MacBook Pro). I use the iPad mainly for playing games. Fifa 12, Real Racing HD, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and Scrabble are all favourites! :)
To break it down I'd say 70% of my use is MacBook Pro, 28% is my Mac Pro and 2% is the iPad.

I use a couple laptops in addition to my hex MP. Had an iPad and sold it because the laptops do everything better. My wife likes her ipad2 though.

mac pro is my main comp at home, attached to the 30" acd for image and video editing, while the ipad is always at arm's length. i only use the 15" quad core mbp at work and even then only on days when the ipad's computing power wouldn't suffice.

Mac Pro + 27" Cinema Display in the office, Mac mini + 27" Cinema Display and iPad at home, and MacBook Air on the road.

I primarily use my Mac Pro at home for everything, and my MBP for other things mostly on the go. At work my computers are PCs, one a Dell PowerEdge 4600 workstation, and the other an HP touchscreen RedHat Linux box.

I use a MacPro as my main computer for everything that I do at home, have an iPad for light internet browsing, checking email or an occasional game in the living room, bedroom or when traveling.

Two locations: one with MacPro 20G of Ram, 30" Cinema display, all SSD's for photo editing; the other with iMac (2009), numerous external drives, for more occasional editing. MBA for travel. iPad2 for entertainment, books, etc.

I use my Mac Pro for pretty much everything at home. I have an iPad 2 which mainly gets used only in the living room or for reading before bed. I also have a Macbook Pro which gets used only when I travel.

I use my Mac Pro when Im working, however when Im not at my desk, or at uni, I grab either my MacBook Air or MacBook. If Im going to a meeting it tends to be the MacBook Air, unless I know I need the Optical Drive. I'd say its a 50:50 split between the Mac Pro and my various Laptops. I also tend to have my iPad on me, just for iBooks and email on trains.

My MBP occasionally goes to work for lunch-time computing pleasure. It also visits Starbucks quite a bit. At home it's just an EyeTV DVR or if needed an occasional Internet or file display while bailing out the MP. The real work is done on the MP.

I hardly ever use my MacPro for anything other than work. I do music and audio on it but that's it. Everything else I do on my iPhone, our iPad or a linux laptop that I have for s--ts and giggles.

I still have an '07 iMac that stays in my son's room and I may use that occasionally, but I do most of my generic computing on iDevices.

I use my Mac Pro for all of my photographic work. Plus it it is has all of the final versions for all documents.

I have an old MBP that I use in different rooms of the house, or out of the house, when I am working on documents for my business or classes I teach or other groups (among other things I volunteer for a few groups).

I use Dropbox for just about all of my documents so that I can work on them "at work" on the MP or "anytime" on the MBP.

It works well for me. Hope this helps.

Iam on my iPad now reading and some genral surfing, I use my laptop PC Lenovo to talk to ECU,s on cars and amatur radio equipment. And my mac pro for my photography and graphics along with win 7 for gaming on.

So I guess I need them all:)

My MP does the heavy lifting, and is hooked up to a 24" ACD. I have a 2010 i7 MBP for semi-serious work, and a couple MBAs for coffee shops, travel, etc.

I was on the fence regarding the need for an iPad when I got my 11" MBA, but I find that I still use it ---in part because the iPhone screen is still too small, for reading, photos, crossword puzzles, games, movies, email, Internet, etc. The iPad is still the mid-size point for me between the 11" MBA, and the iPhone.

Upstairs, downstairs

Upstairs: MP
Downstairs: MBA 2,1

The iPad 2 and iPhone are both upstairs and downstairs.

I find my MBA to be perfection; the MP, the necessary and practical; the iPhone, the best smartphone, period; and the iPad, a weirdly fun "consume a lot, create a little" tool.

Of all the "mobile" devices, I mostly reach for my MBA. It's comfy and has a keyboard, one of the best laptop keyboards I've experienced, and a physical keyboard is a must for me.

2008 Mac Pro 8-core for work and occasional games; 15" MBP (Early 2008 model) for field work, travel and goofing off on the web. Overall usage between the two is about a 50/50 split.

Several of my friends have iPads but they really don't appeal to me. To me, they're expensive, gee-whiz toys and an appreciably more useful laptop really isn't THAT hard to carry around. But to each his own...

I have a Pro, and an MBA. Both are used daily...I use my Air for web surfing at night when I can't sleep, a job that used to be the principal domain of my ipad2.

I still use my iPad, but mostly for games and music now....I would say that of all my devices the iPad gets less use now.
