For me, no. A 13.3" is definitely small enough for me, and I don't think I can cope with less. Also, I prefer the full sized keyboard instead of a cramped one

I've got a 9" Fujitsu Lifebook and it collects dust b/c the screen is way too small. I got the 3G iPhone and that's a pretty small screen, but I can unpinch to enlarge whatever I'm viewing. Can't do that with the 9" Lifebook...

13 is small enough for me. I don't think I could deal with a smaller screen since I'm blind as a bat anyway!

Netbooks are a FAD.

If Apple creates ANYTHING between the MacBook Air and the iPhone, it will be the long-awaited MacTablet.

I actually want the MacTablet to have a 13" screen so that the keyboard is a decent size. None of this ten, seven, or anything in between crap. Either make the keyboard usable with two hands or two thumbs.

I would actually prefer something with a smaller screen, and more importantly, a smaller bezel around the screen. Something like the ThinkPad X61 or X200 would be amazing, both 12-inch notebooks with full speed processors and chipsets, and full sized keyboard.

A 10-inch air would definitely be interesting, and it's a Mac that I'd consider buying. It's even further from "capable of being a main computer" than the current macbook air is, but I'd say it's still suitable, something I'm going to carry with me to classes or to work.

12" @ 1280x800 - YES.

Anything smaller - NO.

Actually come to think of it, I like my Air as it is. Any smaller and it becomes too small to use. Anything bigger than an iPhone is too big to fit in jeans or coat pocket so it may as be a useful size.

Completely agree. Remember, the Netbook came from the OLPC which was Nic Negroponte's project for 3rd world kids ?. Asus just made that a "hit" with the EEEpc and the cloner justr latched on.

No working people will seriously use Netbook as a second machine for long. It just compromised too much in screen, keyboard and power. The AIR only needs to shet off its bezel and sides of the keyboard. Now that Apple uses glass, they can have a bonded screen fully edge-to-edge. Do that for the keyboard And practically shave 1.5 inches off the width. This would be just perfect. The AIR screen is way way better than the Macbook.

I can't see the need for a 10" MBA, especially since it wouldn't be price competitive with other netbooks.

I think if apple made a smaller device it would need to be a xl iPod touch.
Archos 7 looks like amazing piece of kit that would rule if it could be hakingtoshed with the iPhone os.

same screen size but reduced bezel size.

Second that! (Or maybe a 12")

Personally I'd like a 4:3 aspect ratio to increase the pixelcount (do the math and you'll see why). Not going to happen though.

I'd also like to have higher resolution. I have no problem reading small text. Tell me again, why are Apple working on making OS X resolution independent?

No. I don't care about the footprint of the Air, I just care about the fact that it's light and thin.

Mostly agree with this.

Netbooks currently are too limited.

:)

same screen size but reduced bezel size.
Now, that would be nice.

I used to have a Sharp MM20 with a 10.4 inch screen (1024x768). Liked it at first, but it was just too limiting.

The added pixels of the current MB are definitely welcomed.

12" or 13", very thin, minimal bezel, full-size keyboard, and 4GB ram. SOLD!
How thin do you want it to be!? Lol. Minimal bezel would be nice, but the bezel would have to be the same size as the edge of the MacBook to the keyboard, as it is propotional. 4GB RAM would be awesome :)

Honestly, I think that the smallest I would go is 11" a la the viao TT and TZ. That's the smallest I think I would go for myself without a touchscreen.

BUT, work on getting rid of the bezel. The bezel on my 12" PowerBook is almost half the size of the Air's. And if they need that space for the keyboard, internals, etc. ... wait for it...

I think they should offer a 14" 1440x900 MBA with they same footprint, but smaller bezel!

yes? (I know they won't do it)

I couldn't disagree more - netbooks are fantastic for their intended market - as an almost "throw-away" computer, they can't be beaten. I've got an Acer Aspire One dual booting between XP and Leopard and it is absolutely brilliant to take places I wouldn't want to take my expensive MBA (such as on vacation, trips out of town, etc, etc). I also use it as a portable media player whilst working - the screen is big enough to watch next to my main computer and doesn't take up too much room on my desk.

The keyboard is about 80% full size, and is fine for touch typing on and the screen is good enough.

If Apple released one, I'd get it in a heartbeat but until they do, I'll continue with my Aspire :D

I got a Dellmini9 about a week ago and put os x and mac office on it. For the purpose that I bought it for this thing can not be beat.
The screen is bright and clear and after calibrating it I am very impressed. The keyboard is smaller and slowed me down a bit at first but now I am almost back to normal speed. The small size means I always have it with me when I need it. My wife smirked at my "toy" when I got it but she remarked last night that she was impressed with it.
I had purchased this machine not as my primary machine which is an imac or my secondary which is a 14 inch dell but more as a third machine. I use remote desktop to manage the imac and am able to play ripped dvd's over my wireless network without a stutter. The 1.6 ghz atom is not a powerhouse but handles spreadsheets and stuff with ease. And it also gets almost four hours per charge with screen at full brightness and wifi and bluetooth on.
The downside to this machine is that Dell uses a goofy ssd in it which limits what sizes are available. And while I could see writing a two page essay on this machine I am not sure if I could use this keyboard for longer then that.
I like this setup so much that my two oldest kids are each getting one for Christmas (so that they quit stealing mine):D. If Apple made something like this I would by it in a heartbeat. On the other hand I do plan on eventually getting a macbook pro.
I am not trying to convert anyone to a netbook but would like to suggest that you not dismiss them out of hand. As a matter of fact I would not be surprised if apple comes out with one within a year. *ducks*
