The iPP is already the 2-in-1 and I don't like or want it.

My ideal device is a 12" MB rated at 20 hours of battery life (so that I can get 10 real hours), weighs 2 lb or less, has a decent front camera (at least 720p), a keyboard that has a decent amount of travel and is quiet (no worse than the 3rd gen butterfly), fanless, runs cool. I would also like to be able to draw/write on a whiteboard app via the touchpad.

That has been the discussion though ... is the lack of “Pro” apps a limitation of apps or of the OS?
Its the limitation of Apple.

The current OS may have room to improve but its not an excuse for the mediocre, crippled or ignored apps that exist today.

For example, Apple has the worlds most popular camera in the world yet the bundled photo and video editing apps are under-featured and outdated. If they sold Aperture and Final Cut then it would make sense to have iMovie and Photos as freebies, but as it is then iMovie/Photos aren’t held back due to the OS.

In theory, the Windows Surface Book is the type of hybrid device I would be interested in. The problem will continue to be how the software is implemented. If Apple were to pursue this, their solution would inevitably end up restricting some of the freedoms still available in MacOS that have been taken away in iOS (ability to downgrade software, installation of 3rd party applications). They would raise the walls of the garden even further.

But, in an ideal world, a Surface Book-style hybrid exists that runs full MacOS with the ability to operate any iPad app when in tablet mode. That would be an amazing device.
