I mean if I can still use my dac in my car to pass digital audio id be happy. Im using the camera connection kit with usb out for audio and charges the phone into a dac then running digital back to my dsp.
Id imagine that I can use a usb-c to usb mini into the dac and be fine. But how would I charge my phone then? Splitter of some sort for power.

I guess this is why iPhone hasn’t switched to USB-C. I realize this is Android. But my gosh!

Apple would suffer from this exact same thing if they did not use their proprietary connector or if other devices used Lightning. The Apple adapter for Lightning to 3.5mm contains a DAC while in the video some of the cables do not as they use the DAC in the phone instead. I don't know which way would be better as both have pros and cons.

It's the kind of stupidity we have to deal with thanks to Apple starting to push the no headphone jack movement. I guarantee that if Apple had not done it first, nobody else would be willing to jump on that bandwagon.
