I have accepted it after years of fighting it I was pressured into it and its not all that bad. The idea of networking is good. The web pages are horrid tho.

I hate it. My girl thing set one up for me a week or so ago and I'm already getting tired of it. I wish MySpace was like the rest of the internets - porn and Macs.

your "girl thing?" is this a girlfriend?

i had a myspace but grew tired of it and deleted it.

hate it
it was cool for a few weeks
then i started getting spammed galore

i finally started e-mailing some of the folks who were spamming
most of them turned out to be total strangers who were just 'looking to get more friends'

lame people.

I signed up to Friendster quite early on, which was then completely overtaken by My Space, though its essentially the same thing.

I liked it as alot of my friends used it and I got in touch with my friends friends. A way of meeting people.

However, the social networking aspect quickly became competitive as people wanted to be popular and have lots of friends. As I saw that happening I signed off, it seemed perfectly ridiculous to be "friends" with 100 (or many more) people who you don't know, have nothing in common with and will never meet.

Do we really need another thread on how Myspace sucks? There's beet around two or three already in the past few months.

Yes it sucks and no we don't have to keep reminding ourselves of it.

No we don't need to be reminded but we need to know that there is a sight where people can come together and complain about a site like myspace:rolleyes:

I am the one who does not even have a my space... though I think I have to get one to start getting recognition on my movies I am making... sucks...

Don't give in. You don't need it. Prove to the world that things can be popular without having their own myspace.

That said, I... cannot... STAND... myspace. I don't know a single user who does not complain about how much it sucks, yet they refuse to quit using it. It's like a drug. They know it's no good yet they're hooked.

I got pushed into it by my bro, I really like facebook but myspace is just so all over the show there is no regulation and people put up silly non-css certified, and therefore slow down safari, themes!!

Myspace has just become another outlet for spam, I get 3 or 4 messages a day from some one selling or promoting something, its total crap..

I like a newer site called consumating.com I believe it is owned by CNET

C|Net..... nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Their reviews are so biased (not just Apple, but in general). C|Net is evil, just like Myspace. Just say no!

myspace isn't really a good place to be associated with when you are trying to get hired. companies do look at myspace, so i just stay away from it altogether.

and the pictures they post on myspace are terrible, equivalent to soft porn, too much info and just a big time waster. so i'm totally against that.

Oh i understand that. But it would probably be my production companies website not mine personally. Just more so so that I can show my movies. Get my name out there... I mean did anyone here about that kid that produced that not very funny and poorly done movie about myspace? Fox calls him up invites to him to meet with the executives and the executive says: What do you want?
The 18 year old or so maybe tad younger says: I want my own TV show (comedy sitcom I think) Fox guy says: Ok.

Not saying that would happen to me or anything. But I just know its where a lot of people are getting there name known for there work...

I maintain a page for the express purpose of following several bands that I've recently discovered. Count me among the many who think it's terribly designed, allows way too much customization, and brings out the most insane parts of people's personalities.

I got one a couple years ago, and only used it to talk to friends and post a picture every once in a while, I never met anyone new, and sooner or later, I got so fed up with the people with pages that were about 50 miles long and so full of cheesy, sparkly crap that i dropped it and picked up a facebook, which works much better for me especially since I:m studyign abroad.

good idea, horrible in actual practice tho

the masses are aware of how to properly design a webpage. too many flashing colors, misaligned frames, and emo writing all abound. yuck

I never tried it

I don't even now what it's about. People keep asking me, "Do you have a Myspace?" I say no, and they're like, "Holy crap, why not? EVERYBODY has a MySpace!'

It's like Windows, but worse..... no I actually take that back, it's about the same.
