Yes, I love iOS 15 so far. Had it since the day they announced it. Safari is much better and focus is really great. i just don’t understand why people boo hoo over it

People “boo hoo”, IMO, because Apple seem to have become too conservative when it comes to innovation. They revolutionised the IT industry some 20 years ago, but nowadays are just bringing some very incremental improvements, which are either delayed (SharePlay) or backtracked (Safari redesign). Hence the boo hoos, I think.

IMO, it is quite a mellow advance, compared to iOS 14. I do not “hate” it, but there is not much to be excited about either. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Oh i couldn´t agree more! It has been a long time since i´ve found any update/feature of IOS exciting really. I guess dark mode and the ability to choose default browser and mail app is the only things that comes to mind. 😂

A small add-on. Considering that Apple’s modern A-class processors are so powerful, why cannot we still have two apps side by side in a split-screen mode? At least in a 50/50 mode, with upper half of the screen occupied by one app and the bottom half - by another? Imagine, for example, having Safari & YouTube open side by side, or Notes & Calendar. Would be great, IMO, and should be quite doable by now.

Yeah there really isn’t an excuse for that at this point. I do feel like Apple gets a little complacent with iOS because so many people are locked into their ecosystem (like me) and they don’t really need to be that innovative.

Copy text from image is splendid feature. Safari improvements are nice. Looks like performance and battery improvements are done under the hood. Overall I’m impressed.

I had beta 5 on my iPhone and it worked – I downgraded to iOS 14.7.1 after Apple announced that iOS 15 will include CSAM-Spyware which I don't accept to be on devices I paid for.

Reading in the beta testers forum it just seems to be complain after complaint about what a mess iOS15 is. Features wise I think its a complete bust, but this seems to go beyond that where Apple has messed with core elements of things like Safari that has people really upset. This is the first time I’ve never loaded a beta on my phone due to the mainly negative talk in the forums here.

Are most people pretty satisfied with it or is this OS just not very good this year?

I am running the public beta on my iPad which I use for work and it has been fairly stable for me. I love having widgets on my iPad homescreen, the new multitasking interface, App Library, quick notes and private relay (when it works). Nothing really rethinks the way I do things on my iPad, but it’s a welcome set of convenience enhancements nonetheless.

I love iOS 15, it brings features I have wanted for a loooong time:
- Focus modes are incredible and are helping me a lot, much more than Screen Time ever did
- Live Text in Photos is great and proves handy several times a week for me
- The new Mic modes (voice isolation) are great for when I join into a call while I’m still on my way to home/office
- iCloud+ custom domains will allow me to ditch Google Workspaces/Suite/whatever they call it these days for email/calendar on my personal domain, have waited for years for this one
- Quick Notes on my iPad Pro are amazing and super helpful when doing research for a topic
- Much improved multitasking interface and keyboard shortcuts on iPad
- Shared With You is already pretty cool although it needs more apps to hook into it
- The current incarnation of Safari has no usability issues anymore imho but has the benefits of a easy to reach URL bar (I use a 12 Pro Max)
- Extensions for Safari…
- Widgets on iPad (finally, tbh) are great too although the wider spacing of icons, meh
- I use Siri quite a lot and on-device-processing really improves it a ton

Overall, it’s great. I don’t know what everyone’s complaining about (except early Safari UI). It’s improving and polishing so many things. Looking forward to SharePlay although I’m not sure how many apps/services will actually integrate with it (e.g. Netflix…)

But Apple's recent revelation that Apple can scan everything on any users' Apple devices or on iCloud, at the behest of any government, killed that advantage. Apple's "What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone", parodying the famous Las Vegas slogan, no longer applies.
Except that onlt applies on stuff thats leaving the iphone anyway, though I've still mixed feelings in general about i.

Personally, I like iOS 15 more than iOS 14. This year release is more packed with feature that I will use in my everyday workflow and have good "refinements". I love the new focus mode, drag and drop on iPhone, Safari extensions, ability to easily change font size per app (also be able to adjust accessibility features per apps), hone library to iPad, its easier than ever to have multiple apps on screen on iPad etc. In short, its packed with many littles things that as a whole will really benefits in my everyday usage so for me its a good release.

In iOS 14, all I really liked was the app library and some new siri shortcuts features. I didn't really care about widgets (I'll care about the home screen the day when Apple will really allow us to customize it the way we want like the ability to place the icons everywhere I want) picture in picture on iPhone and..just can't remember the other features lol

I have a feeling that iOS 15 is going to be like another iOS 13/11.

So for the first time ever, I won’t be installing it on launch day and will likely wait until the ‘new emoji release’ version and then make a call as to if it’s ready.

I wasn't crazy about the safari changes and the new look of the compact notifications, but they're growing on me and safari has the option to go back to classic mode, so I'm warming up to it.

Also, how does iOS 15 run on the latest iPhones? Is it smoother than 14.7.1? I ask because I bought an iPhone 12 mini and I thought everything would be smooth as butter but I still get quite a few stutters opening and closing apps and stuff.

I really can't tell much difference. I haven't messed around with Focus mode too much, but otherwise its pretty much the same as ios14.

Lol. It because people who like it are happy with it. It's just the people who have issues who are complaining on forums.

I suppose I must be, in the sense that I don’t dislike it. There’s some nice little additions, live text is useful, I’m sure visual lookup will be when it reaches these shores.

But to be honest, I don’t really notice all that much of a difference in my average day-to-day use so far.

I'm sorta sitting on the fence, at the moment I use a Pixel work phone, Ive been waiting to see what apple is doing regarding iPhone 13 and iOS 15 before I get a new personal phone, but I'm not seeing anything to convince me, the entire thing seems dated and stale, Android seems to be going forward, Apple not so much, I might just hold out for the Pixel 6
