You should try 'using' it on the appletv...

Good grief , worth it just for the amusing things it finds - never what you're looking for though

At WWDC next week Tim will say, "We love Siri and so do our customers. We're thrilled by how many people use it daily on Mac and how satisfied they are with the results. Siri for Mac has approval ratings of 99% amongst our customer base. It's amazing."

sure, mere mortals may use it on their macs, but this is a geeky forum, where we fly by our own rules...

I do. Not as often as I like because I can usually spotlight what I want a little bit faster but it has its uses.

Asking for spelling when I'm having a brain fart and my guess is so far off there are no suggestions.

Mathematical equations on occasion....noticing a trend? Apparently I can read or count.

And in other circumstances for opening apps and such.

HOWEVER where I really wanted to use it it seems to have the worst performance. Music. If I ask to play a song out of my library Siri on my iPhone gets it 99% of the time. However on my iMac Siri gets it maybe 20% of the time even though I can see she is clearly hearing me correctly. Its mind boggling how terrible she is at this for me.....

I've been using Siri quite a bit on the Mac more recently, it took me a while to figure how to integrate in to my normal day use.
But I will use 'her' for google searches, setting reminders, and some iMessaging.
Once I set a dedicated button that I could remember, she became increasingly easier to use and implement daily.

I did have to somewhat train myself to use Siri because it was just something outside of my normal use scenario but as soon as I started using her I found out how much I enjoyed the little bit of utility it adds.
Similar to when I initially got Carplay and hands free Siri in the car, I went several months without ever using the functions but once I actually started doing it I now use it quite a lot.

I think I have used it once on my rMBP vs. daily on my iPhone. I think it's just faster to type my questions, than it is to think about how I ask a question verbally. My wife, to this day, can't ask Siri questions in a conversational manner. Instead, she goes into an almost-robotic-speak monotone voice. It's funny as she knows she's doing it and just can't seem to talk normally.

I am really struggling to find a use for Siri on my Mac, does anyone else feel the same ?

I've never used Siri (not even once since i been an Apple user) only just to try it out and that's it.. It's one of the first options i turn off after setting up a Mac.

I'm sure there's a valid reason, like u can't reach your phone... or its in the next room, and I can't be bothered walking ?

All not really very good I might add.

Not only I find it completely redundant as a feature and I don't want ANY system resources to go into that garbage, I find the Siri activation popup to be a real nuisance whenever my finger accidentally touches the touchbar upon pressing backspace.

Siri plus a bunch of other apps that Apple thinks I need are among the first things I delete after I do a clean install.
in a Terminal window...
"sudo rm -rf (drag file from Finder to here)", works like a charm every time.
