I like the look. I'll have to use ML about the indicator lights, hopefully not going to be a problem.

I always changed the Dock resource png's to black as it allowed for easier viewing of open app indicators. I could never understand why Apple engineers chose a silver dock with light blue orbs, made no sense.

Some of the effects are interesting, however I still believe the indicators are difficult to notice when compared to a darker dock.

I use a dark background too. But in my case, it's just a matter of size, not brightness. I use the 27" ACD, so if you look at that picture someone posted, it's not representative at all of my situation. My indicators are much, much smaller relative to the icons above them. The older ones were just way bigger.

What are you talking about? The lights are much larger than they were before!

I haven't been able to get a black color dock change to stick in GM. Has anyone?

There's a thread on MacRumors in which someone did it and provided the files. I installed it (replaced the files in the "Resources" folder with the one's the MacRumors member provided, backed up dock first), and it was fantastic! Had all the same effects as the new dock with the shiny black finish...

However, the new ability to uncheck "Group applications by window" didn't work. Reset the plist(s) files, tinkered, but in the end I really need "All Windows" Exposé with that feature.

CandyBar might release an update for the dock/10.8.

Note: I believe the indicators still exist, I wonder if replacing them and keeping the dock the same may be an alternative solution?

I just don't like the shadow it's a bit too heavy, everything else looks great!

Just wondering how people actually manage with the Mac Dock, as I couldn't? I had been a PC user for years before switching to Mac for a year. Now I've switched back to Windows (8) and it's BLISS, having the auto-hide taskbar to skip very quickly between programs/files, rather than using hot corners (2 steps to move the mouse to the corner and then to stop, check, and click; compared with window's point down and click).

I don't even know why there is a Dock since you can start programs in Mission Control or the Desktop? To me the Dock doesn't add anything, but happy to be enlightened to the contrary.
