I tend to agree that the hardware feels like its reach to its peak. You can use the same phone for few years before you start feeling his age. Same with the OS, up to iOS 8 it was big jumps, since then not so much…

The biggest improvement they can do hardware wise - they should go back to the 5\5s\SE thickness, it was\is the perfect size, and use the extra space for the battery. As for the OS - make it even more intuitive, and utilize the full specs efficiently (who cares it you having 8cores and 16GB RAM if the OS can’t use them…) .

Not going to happen.

One can hope... OTOH, another golden boy, Steve Forstall got thrown under the bus. So, the Cook-Schiller-Federighi cabal may still sacrifice the bald guy if(when?) things go bad in the future..

kids these days need instant gratification and whizz. The society that we live in has programmed those expectations as entitlement from birth thru high school and into college.

Ok, so I did own the original 1984 128k Mac, the 1989 MacPortable, the 1992 Powerbook 180, the 1996 G3 Mac, did I mention the Newton Message Pad 110? among other computers...and spent over $35k from 1984 thru 1998 on hardware/software, and by that helped funded the R&D of computers.
(Also owned iPhone 4, 5s, and waiting on the 7, with iPad2 and iPad mini,)

Sustainability, usability, functionality, what specifically are you looking for here?
What endorphin release that apple products used to set off are not happening anymore?

Seriously, I ask that because I've been there and felt that also, and decided there is life outside of "living inside a device", so curious.

Product Planners have to make their cycle plans to keep showing innovation and balance the R&D time, investment, ROI, etc.
Maturity is happening and will so, it's a good thing actually, why be programmed to spend $$$ every 1-2 years?
