does anyone else feel like iOS 6 still looks outdated?

Kind of. The only reason Android has aged better is because it's got a lot more gimmicky features like live wallpapers and such. Also, I think Apple's gotta kick the pinstrips in favour of a solid background for stuff like the settings app. Other than that they're basically a lot a like if you substitute all the white in iOS for the black in ICS. In some ways android looks old with it's low quality, ugly app icons. Apple's app icons (3rd party especially) look significantly better.
not at all. never thought any version of iOS has looked outdated. its a simple and minimalistic design by purpose. i think that android looks much too cluttered and busy most of the time. also if you feel that iOS looks outdated, is it just because there haven't been radical changes year to year? that, to me, would be more annoying than slowly progressing forward as apple has.
it would have been cool if they updated some icons...

i don't care about live wallpapers, i'm just talking about the UI itself. the menu's look better, and more modern. apple's look old. the "gloss" look has to go. that's so 2000's lol
not at all, i don't want to see drastic changes each year. but like the above poster said, the pinstripes have to go. it isn't 2007 anymore.

i think windows phone has the best UI, android is 2nd, and iPhone is last.
I don't care whether it looks outdated or not, I just care if it's intuitive and easy to use. I've used the settings in Jelly Bean and I don't like it at all.

Apple created iOS around the fixed sized app icons. It's a very good looking system designed to look simple & easy so as to not frighten off old people. It's working well as the sales are extremely robust.
I don't find it old & boring at all. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, attract the masses to buy iPhones. If Apple were to change it, users would become confused & disoriented.
All of the complaints in Apple forums like this, about Android, prove the general public has neither the patience or desire to learn. They expect to pickup an Android & immediately begin comparing it to an iPhone. Since Android isn't trying to be like iOS, and is very different just like Windows is different than Mac, and new buyers have little if any knowledge of Android, they begin to condemn it from the start.
I know people that intended to be Switchers & use a Mac, yet gave up too soon not wanting to learn the differences. As a result they cheated themselves out of a great experience instead of learning. In some ways it's human nature for the lazy ones.
I like both platforms a lot.
I've gotten over the disappointment of what may likely be the new longer, same width iPhone. Instead I'm focusing on the positive. I'll save money by not buying one, and maybe if by next year Apple decides to give us a contemporary sized screen, I'll buy one of those.
In the meantime I'll enjoy my SGS III and new Galaxy Nexus.
In fact I may decide to use my extra line for a Windows phone, to see what it's like.

Apple uses white on black for interfaces where content needs to be highlighted like Aperture, the photos app in iOS, etc. For changing settings, the black on white is clearer and easier to read. For some reason, the Android settings screen gives me a mini mental block. Probably because I dislike it so much. I tend to shy away from websites with black backgrounds unless they are specifically for viewing photos. There is a reason the Google search site is white, not black. Same for most popular websites.
While this looks sleek and clean, ease of navigation is lost due to the lack of color/differentiation in the icons themselves. One of the best parts of iOS's settings is the familiarity through consistency.
That said, I agree that there is room for improvement in iOS.

Yuck and YUCK. Goes to show differing opinions. Android looks very dated. Maybe it's my long history with android that makes that screen look so bad. Really, white text on black background. There's something groundbreaking. It's looked basically the same since the G1. It's the worst most boring screen. Obviously no care taken on it.
Windows is even worse. Giant block letters that cut off. Who came up with that great idea. Windows is 100% trying to be trendy without functionality.
While I would like to see iOS get a graphical refresh there is only so much you can do. After all, why change it for the sake of changing it?

The glossy icons might look outdated, but that's the difference between UI and website.
User-friendly UI should have elements which you immediately know you can tap. For example the android UI you posted is just plain text and when you tap it it just doesn't have that feel that it's a button.
I really don't know how to explain this, but that's why I prefer iOS
Why does everyone want change for the sake of change? iOS's UI works and works well.
And Android's UI really hasn't drastically changed either. I agree it's changed more than iOS has over the years, but that doesn't make it better.

This is basically the same interface since iOS 1 where they only had one screen and 7 apps. Now that they expanded the functionality of the OS over the years they should change up the look to make it fit the functionality. Unless of course they can't do anything without Google suing them.
Yup. Android looks 80ish to me and Windows is just.. wow. Big colored squares with ugly text. Nifty.
