I haven’t been seeing a lot of resprings on my iPhone Air, but I’m getting a lot on my M4 iPad Pro. Sometimes just resizing an app crashes the system.

Hello, I have a similar problem. I bought an iPhone 17 Pro Max in October and, a month later, unexpected restarts began. I requested support at the Apple Store in Madrid, but they didn't find any problems. I was suggested to restore the phone from my Mac and make a backup to iCloud. However, the problem persisted. After requesting technical service again, I was informed that it was a hardware problem and they changed my Logic Board last week. After two days, the problem returned and I requested a replacement iPhone, which arrived last Thursday. Yesterday, the phone unexpectedly restarted again and, after factory resetting it today, it restarted twice more. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? The replacement iPhone is new, with zero charge cycles, but it arrived with several problems. Apple is responsible for not being able to use my phone normally for two weeks, and I'm worried that this will happen to my wife at any time. I have tried several solutions, such as restoring WhatsApp without backup or photos, but the problem persists.
I have this problem too, from november my iphone 17PM restarted like 10 times. Not much but frustrating. I read many situations like yours with replacement iphones: now it seems really obvious that is something related to an app or the account itself. Hope one day it will stop, but for now it’s not as costant to worry me.

In theory, with yesterday's update it has been solved it was a problem when generating iOS textures. We will have to try to see if it is true that it has been resolved, recognized the error at least it is and I have already contacted a YouTube channel with 1 million followers that will address the issue to see if it can put pressure

Confirmation of ImageIO error (CVE-2025-43532)

Apple has already updated its security database. The bug we saw in your log (EXC_BAD_ACCESS in ImageIO) is officially resolved by an "improved memory limit check". This means that the "hole" through which the process escaped and caused your mobile phone to turn off has been blocked.

But it’s weird only few of us have this bug… i’m really curious to know WHAT triggers it

Searching on internet this bug is solved with 26.2 but it’s not because i had 2 resprings with .2

Hello

I have spoken to Apple and I have reported all the errors with technical details. At first they offered me a replacement, but seeing that I have insisted on the well-written errors and with technical data, they have told me that they would review the case and that, if it seems a software problem.

They seem a little lost. Tomorrow they will call me again, although I have demanded that they pass me with the engineering department.

At first I slipped the option to request a replacement again, which I refused. I'll keep you informed.

I have been having resprings on my 17PM since 26.1 was introduced. Genius replaced my phone twice as diagnostic was pointing to a hardware problem but it’s definitely software as the 3 phones have the same problem. Escalated to engineering and still waiting for fix. In my case, it randomly happens when unlocking the phone to homescreen. Sometimes twice a week, sometimes it takes 15 days to happen again. Very weird bug. Hopefully they will fix it before iOS 27 lol

Asked Gemini to analyze the Springboard crash log.

Root Cause: Filesystem Issue?

Interestingly, the ktriageinfo (Kernel Triage) suggests this might not be a simple software logic error, but a data corruption or paging issue:

  • cluster_pagein past EOF
  • Filesystem pagein returned an error
This implies that when the system tried to load the image file from the disk into memory, the file appeared shorter than it should have been (EOF - End Of File), leading to the "Buffer Not Big Enough" error when the decoder tried to process it.

What to do next?

If this is happening on a device you are using:

  1. Change your Wallpaper: Since the crash is in the ASTC decoding (often used for system backgrounds), a corrupted wallpaper file is a likely culprit.
  2. Clear Icon Cache: If it happens when swiping through apps, a specific app icon might be corrupted.
  3. Restart/Update: Given the "Filesystem pagein" error, a hard reboot may force the system to re-index the files.

As per Gemini, this might point to a NAND Hardware defect.

Kind of random but ever since I’ve gotten it my silver 17 Pro Max has resprings every now and then where the screen will go black and you’ll see a small spinning wheel before going back to the lock screen a second or two later. They’re rare but random with no set pattern of when I use a XYZ app then it happens.

This issue didn’t happen when I had a different colored 17 Pro Max (which was returned). I’ve tried wiping my device back to factory settings and starting over but it’s still happened. Wondering if it’s a hardware issue with my particular device or if anyone else with the 17 Pro Max has had this issue? 🤔

P.S. they would have once every day or two and I started keeping a note for when they happen so I can reference it to Apple if needed, but the last 3 times it happened was on 12/12, then 12/13, then 12/15 but hasn’t happened since. I’m sure it will come up again at some point and I’ll continue to document it in the note.

In case anyone doesn’t know what a respring looks like, here’s a video that shows it at the 18 second mark:

Yes, I’ve been experiencing a respring on iPhone 15PM often since updating to iOS 26.1 and on. I really thought something was wrong with my phone’s hardware since I had just received an Apple care express replacement but it sounds software related from reading all these comments about the same issue. Really wish Apple would dial in and fix these bugs.

Having a lot of resprings too. 17PM, 26.2.1. It seems to happen a lot if I copy something, switch app by swiping at the bottom, and pasting.
