Okay, so the correct imac prediction wasn't a month before but it was a couple of weeks!

iMac (aluminum) Hardware Updates for Spring 08 Speculation
post #423 page 17 (april 15th tuesday)

you will see he/she correctly predicts MONDAY and exact date release.

and then on april 24th he/she correctly predicts the specs...

"99.9% sure about monday. with core2duo @3.06 ghz & 512 graph. card!! that's what it's gonna be. cannot wait really"

There are certainly people out there with the information prior to release but judging by what happened to this poster when he/she posted this info I can understand why people wouldn't post. quite a few posters tried to shoot him/her down.

There are a lot of people predicting release dates, some say they have inside information. However, most of them actually don't have inside information, so our first view is that they are wrong.

Who is this..."our"?

Sounds to me like an Angry Mob- Pitchforks in one hand, torches in the other!

SO you are playing the percentages then. Pretty valid.

Thing is. Nobody gave props to this guy for getting it right. Most of all the angry mob! Typing Sorry doesn't take much and it certainly helps with the overall atmosphere of a forum.

your right though, gotta be suspicious. But having slithered around these forums for quite a while I think it's pretty obvious when a 15 year old starts posting suspect info.

Showing a person's age would do wonders for forums!

Well, right now the only real time we have to suspect an update happening is when the Macbook line sees an update. Its not concrete, but as speculation goes, it's a fairly solid assumption

But i think what a lot of people who want a mini are feeling is a bad feeling that apple may just snip the mini from their line and the if apple would replace it is questionable.

Right now i'm having that terrible ache where i find myself looking at the mini, and keep telling myself to wait just another month.

Yeah, whatever they decide to do with it, I just want them to do it soon. It's been over a year. I don't think that's wanting too much.

The thing for me is, that I just won't buy any other model. I won't buy AppleTV, cos I find it unuseful and I won't buy an iMac, cos it isn't a replacement for mac mini. I wan't a Mac mini which will have a better graphics (better than X3100), 2 GB of RAM minimum and minimum 160 GB of disc. I don't care for the SuperDrive. For me thedesign should stay the same. It is a fair design and why wasting the energy on it. The prices should say the same or drop for 50EUR and the processor speeds should start at 2,2 GHz.

That would be a great buy. And I'd buy it in a moment. On the other hand Apple won't get my 500 EUR if they choose to eliminate mac mini from the product line. I simply won't buy an additional computer.

If, like me, you don't like glossy screens, there are no other models for less than $1999. Apple, wake up.

Well, the question is how long have we to wait. For me it's not only the price, it's also the small footprint of MM and it's "green nature" too. A Montevina Mac Mini would be a perfect Xmas present for me (2008 if possible Apple :D)

I'm starting to think they won't even mention the Mini until MWSF09. That seems at least as plausible.

My prediction is late October or early November the mini will be quietly updated with what the MacBook got last fall: Core 2 Duo with GMA X3100 graphics, 802.11n wireless and slightly larger drives.

I doubt there will ever be a mention of the mini at Macworld unless it's completely redesigned.

According to one German web site Apple plans to skip the Montevina chipset update, it's to expensive /for Apple, not for me :)/ so there will be no big surprise with the Mini, it would be only Santa Rosa chipset update /if at all/ which is really a shame that chipset is more than a year old ...

If they are skipping Montevina... just what are they updating the 'books to?

I just want to know if they will ever support 1365x768 with 1:1 pixel mapping. It is the only thing keeping me from getting one right now. :(

Any idea on how long the encoding takes with iDVD to encode a 700mb file to a dvd is it long on the mac mini 1.83ghz and you really can't see a speed difference from the 1.83ghz to the 2.0ghz right.
