Just this morning bought a prior gen for my M1 12.9 IPP, an open box white model from BB for $96 in "excellent' condition (which is always a hit or miss with BB's ratings). It arrives next Friday. If it works decently, I may consider moving to the M4 eventually paired with the keyboard. I use some iOS apps for light photo processing, but would like to see if it could replace my M1 MBA. If it is truly a pain using it, I will just return the keyboard. if it works well enough, perhaps moving to an 11 inch M4 with a keyboard might make for a nice portable model .

I’ve had the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 inch, and the iPad Pro 2018 and 2022 12.9 inch, and never bought any of the Apple keyboards available for them. When I updated to the M4 iPad Pro 13 inch I finally decided to give the Magic Keyboard a try. At first I thought I had made a mistake, but eventually realized I really liked it. For my use cases, the keyboard makes a difference.

I’ve had the Magic Keyboard 11 inch since the 1st came out. I’ve used them on my 11 inch gen 1 and 11 inch M1 iPad pros. Just recently upgraded to the 11 inch M4 IPP and have the updated Magic keyboard case for it as well.

For me, the Magic Keyboard cases were a game changer. The inclusion of an excellent trackpad transformed the way I use an iPad. I use my iPad in landscape mode with the MKC at least 80% of the time. Still though…for me, the iPad is a consumption device. It could never replace my 14 inch M3 pro MBP or M1 Ultra Studio….those are my “production” devices!

I have the MK for my 11” M4 iPP and like the others have said, it’s great but is rather heavy but manageable. My only gripe is that it’s a bit cramped which may be deciding factor over the 13” model which is also $50 more. A luxury tax I feel for those who picked up the 13” iPP.
