Hey,
basically when you drive and you're already at an intersection, Apple
Maps still lag behind and says you're not on the intersection.
While navigation in smaller countries this is really annoying!
In iOS 7, 8 and 9 they didn't fix it but what about iOS 10? Any improvements?

I never really had such a problem. At least not anymore than any other navigation app.

Well, if you compare it to google maps, you will see what I mean...

May I ask you where you live (country)

US.

I'll have to check it out a little bit more thoroughly. I'm so used to using a Garmin Nuvi (everyday all day) that GPS on my iPhone feels like its on crack. I'll compare it to Google on Monday..

I know what you mean. I live in the US but it tends to think you are a little far behind and it's annoying when you are in a highway and need to turn in a place with a lot of busy intersections (more than one within feet) and you have to slam on the break to make the turn...

This! And if you live in Europe where the streets are not big and the next turn might be just after your turn, it will be even more annoying!

Hopefully they fixed it in iOS 10? Can you check it out?

Yeah the delay is ridiculous. As others have said, when in an area with closely placed roads Apple navigation becomes almost unusable! I bet this won't be fixed in iOS 10 either.

I don't have this problem and I live in SE Asia now. In fact, it's very spot on.

Well, you probably didn't notice it but it's a problem.

Can say only from my experience that it's definitely not lagging behind and on point on every intersections. GPS should be spot on no matter where you are on the globe. Hope you find what is the culprit of your problem.

I think they do it on purpose in order to zoom in on intersection or turn. I believe its perception it's not really lagging it's zooming in to blow up the turn. Google don't zoom in as much during a turn, which leaves a lot of different roads visible but may be confusing and to busy for some.

I like the way Apple handles the UI when approaching turns and intersections. I seem to rarely blow a turn with Apple unlike Google which I find to busy.

Just used Apple Maps as a navigator an hour ago, and I really didn't notice any lag. And haven't noticed it in the past either. Truth be told, I mostly tend to keep my eyes on the road and listen to the turn by turn directions, but the times I've glanced at the phone to check something like after arriving at an intersection, it has been spot on.

And this is in Finland of all places, so I have a hard time believing location plays a serious role in this matter.

I have not had this issue at all on any of my phones. I wonder if it depends on map data? Some areas get it from different sources if I remember correctly. It's always spot on for me, even with dense roads, I'm in Southern California (San Diego).

It does happen. Before iOS 10, depending on your speed and location the map lag (meaning where you are on map vs real) was about 2-3 seconds. This is more noticeable on turns and approaching sharp exits. It's why i switched to google maps. Tom Tom has a feature called GPS enhanced which was just a timing adjustment to account for the lag. However, they have "fixed" this in the betas. It's much more accurate. I actually did a few tests with iOS 9 on one device vs another running beta 2. And the iOS 10 finally fixes it. Have been using the new maps last three weeks and love it.
