Get off of Apple’s nuts! They are a multibillion £$ powerhouse, they don’t need you defending them. Also, AC+ is underwritten by AIG, not Apple.

I thought that at least 40% of Apple's liquid assets(cash) are in euros.... so what happened? did they exchange the billions of euros for Dollars and Pounds recently???

So, you think if you just send your phone off in the mail, your apple insurance should cover it and not the actual shipper, themselves? You're a tool, GTFO.
No, the shipper should cover insurance unless the label is pre-arranged. All I’m saying is that regardless of a loss/theft scenario, Apple doesn’t pay, AIG does.

Semantics. The original point still stands, it seems unfair to expect your cell phone insurance company to cover your device, when the responsibility clearly lies with the shipper. Unless, as you said, terms were established ahead of time. But since very little detail was given in the OP, I responded with the info at hand. That's not me defending Apple, just keeping things in perspective.

any idea on what type of replacement phones that AppleCare usually sends out? is it in better or worse condition that Apple's own refurbished iPhones?

Thanks!

What’s wrong with Apple’s refurb devices? Anything I’ve had that’s been a refurb, or a replacement device has been as good as a sealed brand new box.

no, no... I'm fine if it's just like the usual refurbished iPhones that Apple sells.

however, I've searching for this in the last few days and many posts say that it's not the same as the refurbished iPhones from Apple's website... some mentioned that it's "lesser quality".(for theft/loss/damage replacement) I hope I never have to find out... but I'm just wondering....

Courier tracking number. When I've done express replacement, I always bring the package (with Apple provided shipping label) directly to UPS or FedEx so I get a receipt that it's been handed over.

If the courier loses it, then that's between the courier and Apple to sort out.

If I use a return label provided by Apple, does my liability end when the FedEx rep scans the package into their system?

Yes. From then, it’s FedEx’s (or UPS’s, whichever Apple used) responsibility.

I can't believe I never thought about this before.... but whose liability is it when porch pirates steal packages from my front porch? The last time this happened to me, I called the merchant(Ray-ban) and they simply refunded me the $400. I never gave it another thought. Although, I did call the local PD and an officer came out and made a report. My neighborhood is usually safe and porch pirates are uncommon. Not really sure why thief wanted my prescription geeky sunglasses. :)

Take a photo of the return label and get a receipt as well and hope no problems. I'm giving it a go today.

From my experiences FedEx and UPS don't leave packages on porches or in apartment hallways. You're not dealing with Amazon after all.
