If you just have a few FLAC files, convert to ALAC. If you have a lot of FLAC files, the solution is to ditch iTunes and use another music player.

Such as? I’ve been recommended Foobar and nPlayer
Foobar working well on Catalina beta 2. nPLayer is iOS only I think?
Roon, nothing else comes close. But it's not free...
US$120 a year! No thank you.
Why not VLC? Or are we trying to find a lightweight, music-only player app? Foobar2000 seems to fit the bill then.
I have a lot of FLAC files, but also have a car stereo that doesn't work with ALAC, so...

I'd recommend Swinsian, it's not free but for me, with a very large music library, it's the best music player. It plays all the formats, no problem at all and excellent sound. Free trial version and then just 24.95$.
