It can be faster on some tasks, in some conditions, but Apple has to keep intel for the moment.
A lot of "pro" apps still need intel and dedicated GPU (virtualization, 3D ...)
We have to wait for more ARM converted apps to forget intel.
Apple will produce faster ARM chips (M1X, M1Z ?) for high end machines and replace i7/i9 intel chips

I have a MPB15 2019 with i9 for my job, it's quite disappointing for performance, it heats a lot, throttles ...
I think Apple will bring great improvements with ARM, but we have to see what will be the limitations (compatibilty, external devices ...)

Sorry for the newbie question. Am I right in the thinking that waiting for the MacBook Pro 16 M1 to use with Ableton (Music producing DAW) would be the right decision rather than going for the 2019 MB Pro 16?
