After talking with an Applecare Admin Dept advisor this morning to add my Smart Keyboard Folio to my iPad’s AC+ and getting answers to other AC iPad accessory coverage questions, here’s the link to the post with the answers in another thread:

From my experience as long as the Apple accessory can be used with the device it should be covered. Or at least Apple would take care of you in many customer service situations. The only 60 day thing I’m aware of is that yo have to purchase AppleCare+ for your primary product within that window. I’ve taken in many Apple keyboards for repair for my employer and just give them a serial number of one of our covered Macs. They happily replace it.

That matches my experience as well. I did not register my MKB or Pencil when I bought AC+ for my M1 iPP 12.9. I don’t expect I’ll have a problem.
