Maybe a redesigned Mini will have those features. But all models do not have to have all features. The Mini will not live or die based on Siri capability until (or more likely "if") Siri becomes a major interface method.

I love Siri. Makes doing a lot of little things easy.

Realistically don't/can't mac and third party monitors have mics and cameras to connect with your Mac mini solving this "issue". Just sayin...

Mac Pro doesn't have a mic either. I doubt they will obsolete models for not having mics. Far more likely that Siri will just require a mic. Same thing with Cortana on Windows. Many Windows PCs don't have mics either, so they simply don't use Cortana.

I think all Macs have a speaker, they need it to play the startup bong.

I don't think it will be the end for the Mac Mini. I imagine that Siri might be allowed to work if connected to an external mic and speakers. If there isn't one present, the feature might be automatically disabled.

Additionally, if Apple ever decides to update the line again, they may build a mic into it for Siri - same thing for the Mac Pro.

The Mac mini is marketed toward bringing in customers from other operating systems, namely Windows, that don't want to pay for an iMac. Since those folks already own a mouse, keyboard and monitor, it just makes sense to cut their teeth on a Mac mini. I wouldn't even be on OS X right now if it weren't for the Mac mini. The Mac mini isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, nothing a "Pro" wants more than a half-witted, pseudo AI nagging them all day.

Agreed, but that mutes my wakeup and medication alarms, also. Can't have that, so no Siri for me. (nagging wife is possibly more acceptable in this case)

Heck with Siri on their desktops and laptops they could easily create a closed captioned Siri that wouldn't require a mic or speaker. May seem slightly backward but... For deaf and mute people or even just hard of hearing it'd be great. Also great for a laptop in a business meeting etc. basically like notices are done now...turn spotlight search into Siri officially.

No one mentioned Apple's IR remote than can be repurposed with a mic.

I'll just use my iPhone's earbuds, like when I listen to music, or even use OS X's dictation.

I hope Siri for Mac means a way to permanently disable Siri so it doesn't take up system resources.

What's your problem with Siri? I love the idea. Now I will be able to switch off my music, ask Siri to add an appointment to the calendar, open calendar, edit 'purple pineapple monkey pants' to 'Susan - cut & colour', switch music back on. Now that's progress.
