Um... actually I think one of the big selling points of the 27" is the input ability on it...

show me a blu-ray, dvd, xbox, ps3, wii, etc... that uses mini display port. fact is, until the magical adapter is available, the imac is simply not an input device.

as it stands right now, the only devices that can input to the imac are mac products... so essentially right now the imac can only be used as a computer display (and not even pc).

As others have said, the dock needs to go on one of the sides.

However I find the dock doesn't work as nicely on the sides as it does at the bottom. For some reason I feel it needs top-justified instead of in the middle of the side. Maybe that's just me though.

I'm glad all the displays on my Mac Pro are 16:10. the height is really useful, all PC games run in those resolutions by default, and web browsing in 16:9 is awful I think (personal opinion) as I find that the added height is really useful for browsing websites. besides that, it seems that everything has been made to work with 16:10 and I think that this is how PC displays should be. 16:9 is fine for watching media, but I have a TV for that :D I might still get a new iMac, but it's going to the wife. No way I am playing WOW on a 16:9 screen with all my addons!

I have a 16:9 screen on my PC, and I find that 1920x1080 in particular is very well support on games - even two or three year old games.
That might be because people wanted to play on their HDTVs, but it does make it easier to add other 16:9 resolutions as well, as only scaling and no viewport changes would need to be made.

// Viewport might be the right word, and might not. I wikipedia'd it.

Sounds like you need to add more stuff to your dock.
