Do you remember what happened? I own a watch with sapphire it’s over 10 years old and I wear it almost every day. It got scratches everywhere (titanium) but non on the glass. 🤔
I have no clue — I’ve used both Sapphire and Ion-X Apple Watches, and I’m very aware of the differences between how they scratch. I just got unlucky with that iPhone lens, and I wanted to demonstrate that the lenses can scratch under relatively normal conditions.

The OP decided to go case-less because it allows them to create a load of attention seeking threads that ask the most bizarre questions. If you go case-less then all parts of the phone become susceptible to being scratched or broken. It goes with the territory and should be obvious to any person. Expect more threads asking about the stainless chassis, fading and whatever else attracts interaction. I’m convinced their account is software driven.

I’ve had iPhones since the 2g 2007 version and over 12 different models. I’ve never had the camera scratched and I never used a case until the 6 plus version. Plenty of scratches screens but never the camera. I’ve never worried about this.
I had my iPhone 4 lens scratch and I don’t believe it was sapphire either.

I recently decided to go case-less on my iPhone 14 Pro. My only concern is that when I place it on the table or counter the camera lens could get scratched. How tough are they?
I have a 14 ProMax that I bought and received a week after lunch and I’m the type of person that like just get the case because might as well just in case I drop it but occasionally I would just take it off and use it for a bit and like put it back on what I’m going out or whatever. And don’t quote me on this or anything. But what I could tell you and from what I noticed the edge of the bottom camera, and the bottom edges of the band touches. I won’t be as worried of the actual camera lens glass, touching, or scratching, unless you put on a really rough or crooked surface. But I would worry more of like the camera lens housing and the bottom edge where is painted scratching like even though it’s stainless steel and really scratch resistance, It was still scratch. Especially if you like Slide the phone around a rough surface or some thing. But what I would do and what I’m doing currently is I would put on a case when I’m putting it down or like if I put it down for a short amount of time I would just put it face flat on the screen because I also have a screen protector. But of course, if you’re going to put it down for a long time and you would like to use your always on display feature I would just say best thing you can do if you don’t want a case is they just put it down carefully and make sure it doesn’t slide. Good Luck :)
