I was happy it didn't have a webcam--saved me from having to find a witty, appropriately sized sticker to cover it with.
Considering the new iPhone 4 g and most netbooks macs etc have a web cam it really bugs me that Apple left it off. With the almost 2 million ipads out there and the 4g iphone coming out I can imagine all the possibilities with video chat.
Yeah, it does, a lot. It was enough of a factor that I decided not to buy an iPad until the next iteration appeared, presumably with front-facing webcam.
Then I made the fatal error of playing with one at the Apple Retail Store, and my wife agreed to take this one when G2 arrives.
I'm still hoping there will be an accessory webcam and app.
Agree.I do think there might be enough desire for a cam for someone to make a third-party cam that hooks to the dock port, if Apple allows.
Such a cam could be a lot more versatile to one built into the chassis, although less elegant to use.
I'm always under the impression that people can spy on me, even if it's off and that the light is off as well. lol
If anybody goes to the trouble to spy on me through a portable device's camera, they're welcome to spy on me until they pass out from boredom.
Seriously, people don't get that no one gives a crap about their lives lol. All they want is your personal info, which they wont obtain through your webcam. So you should be more concerned with connecting to a random wifi network in a public place. People are too funny, paranoia makes me laugh...
While I agree that the likelihood of being spied on is pretty remote for the average person, it can be done. Seeing how it's possible to remotely activate the microphone on your powered off cell phone to listen to conversations, it's not a stretch to think someone couldn't do the same to your web cam.
