Hi,

Is it just me or is iOS getting a bit old and does the look of it need a major revamp e.g. maybe stepping away from the square icons?

simple answer or suggestion please, no arguing :D

Thanks peeps

iOS 6 really needs to redesign everything....

Just for starters we need landscape mode for iPhone and iPod Touch.

YES! thats a fantastic idea, i use landscape mode on my iPad 99.999% of the time and think it would be a great little addition on the iPhone and iPods :D

I'm not sure how landscape would work though on a screen that size. You'd get 5-6 icons on the dock then maybe two rows above it.

That's a terrible idea. You can't compare the landscape mode of an iPad to an iPhone. It would simply look stupid.

I don't see why iOS should go on the techy route, as long as it uses a better OS which it is basically and much more easier to use Apple will be satisfied, that's all a regular user needs...

Doubt they will change the UI, their making their full OS to incorporate some of the iOS look why would they now undo it. In addition simplicity has been the selling point shying away from it would only make Android more marketable.

It's just you, not sure icon shape would do that much to how reactive the device feels.

I completely disagree. Apple is selling millions of devices every time one of their products launch and no company would ever make dramatic UI changes when their products are among the top and making them billions of dollars. That would just be pure stupidity. Out of curiosity.. If the current iOS is getting old... Please tell me what you'd like to see done? Don't relate to anything Android or Windows phone related. Do you have any interesting creative ideas? (No sarcasm, actually curious to what you would like to see.)

What they do need to do though, is add more features to the current iOS. New tweaks and features to just make the iOS even more enjoyable to use. iOS 6 has big hopes for a lot of people and Apple really needs to deliver.

Apple should hire some of the devs that make tweaks on Cydia and incorporate some of their stuff natively. A lot of these tweaks are near perfection as they are, they just need Apple's clean UI's.

I feel they need to do something. The OS is getting very stale. There are plenty of ideas floating out there. Do something Apple.

The well worn, yet true statement, "they sell everything they make" allows them to do some profit taking while saving money by not changing things.

Nothing excites Apple like money, power, control & their vast network of worshipers.

I think this is right out of the Nokia and RIM management manual. With this kind of thinking we would still be excited by our flip phone being available in a few more case colours.

Apple would be silly to not be looking at innovating their iOS if not for V6 but somewhere in the future. It might come when iPhone 7 come out while also having a radical hardware design change! (You heard it here first my friends! :D)

Yes and get rid of the skeuomorphic crap rampant in OSX and iOS. I don't need a notes app that looks like a legal pad with torn pages. Or faux leather and stitching on the calendar app. Game Center has to be the worst. Until there's some sort of haptic feedback that allows the faux leather to feel like leather when I touch it get rid of it. It serves no purpose and adds no functionality. I don't need my software UI to have a personality. Keep it sleek and minimal like the hardware is.

I'd rather the apps had personality than all look "sleek, minimal" and VERY boring.:p

As long as "it just works", I'm fine.

Maybe a update icons with new graphics and live updates, more widgets in notification center, and mission control thing, stuff like that.

Personally I am just tired of the same old 5x4 grid of icons. It would be nice to be able to change things up a bit. Exactly how, I am not sure.

Which ideas do you think they should use? I'm open to radical changes if there is some reason to it, but most people seem to just want change for the sake of change. I'd rather have small updates that improve stability and gradually update the OS than a lot of drastic ones that change everything for no real reason.

For me I hope that notification center takes center stage. I want NC to be the default view, and you could swipe it away to view the grid if necessary.

For this to work, Apple could open up widgets to devs and enable us to have more functionality to the notifications that are already there.

There really doesn't need to be drastic change to the UI.

Android has a lot of different skins because it's the only way some brands can distinguish themselves. The problem is if you switch from a HTC with Sense UI to a Samsung with TouchWiz your muscle memory isn't there.

I can pick up any iPhone and instantly understand how people have their layout and I know the stuff I need is in familiar places.

Contrary to message boards the masses really don't want bling bling flashiness. They want a comfortable OS that stay out of the way and that is evidenced by the fact that Apple can single-handedly keep up with multiple Android vendors.

iOS 6 should have some refreshing changes but the goal should be to keep familiarity and smooth out any rough edges.
