Or will Apple have to roll out a headwear that's better than Glass?
(Apologies if this isn't the right forum)

well an apple watch could come out tomorrow and sell like crazy. The google glass is a long long way from being mainstream. Price alone is keeping glass back, forget the way it looks.

As for me, personally, I'd be much more apt to buy a watch over glasses. Since I don't wear glasses (20/13 vision FTW), I can't see me ever wearing something like Google Glass.

I think a watch is much less conspicuous, although it obviously can't have the same properties as glasses (i.e. taking pictures and video easily). But then again, that aspect of Google Glass kinda freaks some people out (with how covertly video and pictures can be taken).

Hey it is a lot less obvious acting like you are texting and then take a picture, than just starring at someone haha.

The two products seem to be pretty unrelated and I don't see them in competition with each other
Yes, there are some overlapping capabilities, but the differences are greater than the similarities IMO

Well, since the speculated "iWatch" is just a Pegasus, it will bury Glass! Um, no.

Apple chooses their market battles very carefully. They won't introduce either a smart watch or VR glasses just because internet nerds say they should.

They won't do it just because one of their competitors in one industry decides to develop a product in another market.

I think this is the best takeaway from this thread.

Apples and oranges, one's a watch and the other is glasses. I can't see how they would be in competition with each other.

This.

I don't think they will have the same base functions.....the iWatch won't be a replacement for your smartphone, but a compliment to it.

I don't wear watches or glasses and prefer to keep it that way. If I had to pick one say because it was the future of smartphone tech I'd get the watch I guess.

But like mentioned they are pretty unrelated products. I'd think that glass would be a better phone since its near your eyes and ears.

2 different type of devices. Why compare them? Just because one is from Apple and the other is from Google?

But if I was to buy one or the either in the near future, it would be the iWatch.

Google glasses seem futuristic and cool. However, I don't see myself getting one and wearing it in public anytime soon.

iWatch seems more practical and fitting in today's world. I could see myself getting one.

I much prefer wearing a mechanical watch so would probably not use the iWatch, I know it would be able to do more than tell the time but nothing, IMHO that would be a need to have feature, but, if some one has a use then it has a market, so who am I to decry it? I think glass will bear fruit, but not for a couple of years.

I agree 100%.

I typically don't care what shallow people think of me but I'd want google glass to be fairly popular before I start wearing something like that in public. Lol

I will be 1st in line to get it. I think it will be a companion to the iPhone when I can't use it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Glass isn't a standalone product either--needs to be tethered via bluetooth to your smartphone, also making it a complimentary device.

I also agree though that I don't see these 2 devices being in direction competition with each other. I can see myself possibly using both--depends on the style of the watch and wouldn't use Glass until it becomes much less conspicuous.

Both the iWatch and Google Glass will to a large extent primarily be an extension of the phone.

My bet is on Google Glass though, because you don't have to do anything extra to get the information into view. I don't see much difference between getting my phone from the pocket and look at the screen or looking at your arm and probably pulling up the sleeve to look at a watch. Both requires about the same amount of 'work'.

They're entirely different products, this thread makes no sense.

Personally I'm not interested in buying either of them. It's 2013, like most people I don't wear watches anymore even if they do come with the shiny Apple logo, and Google Glass is cool on a technological level but mostly it just worries me; I'm reminded far too much of the Black Mirror episode "The Entire History of You".

If there is such a product, I would say yes.

It will be cheaper, and it will have access to Apple's loyal customers. Glass, while supposedly compatible with iOS, will be much more expensive. Also a watch is very subtle, Glass is kind of over the top stand outish.

Although I think Google Glass is cool, there are far too many issues surrounding privacy that will keep GG from going mainstream.

Someone will end up suing a GG user for video taping them without consent and that will severely cripple any widespread adoption. Maybe it will work for newscasters or service people like police and doctors, where having personal video could be helpful, but even then the issue of personal privacy will remain.

People don't use their cell phones to video tape someone without their consent? If anything, more people use their cell phones to record video or take pictures than anything else in the world.
