Me too

now it's doing it again..... arrrrrggg

It's porked it seems.

cpu is at like 4%, all apps shut down except finder, temps at 49C

yet dumb fan is roaring at 6200

it's not like I can find a process that's doing it cuz with cpu at 4% that's not it.

anyone else have this going on?

Had the same problem. Could not stand it. Returned it. Will buy again after a month or two assuming a fix gets made.

It's just a pretty little thang that's gets a case of the nerves when required to do manly tasks.

While watching youtube videos, about 10 minutes into the video,
the fan reached about 6000rpm~6300rpm (never reached 6500rpm).
The temp was still around 65~70. After closing Safari, it took about
1.5~2 minutes to reach back to normal 2500rpm. and temp now is 48~50.

Not flash for my issues

Flash is bantha putu on pretty much any OS but windows. It sucks on Linux too.

Although Flash may or may not be bantha putu, my test were done with iTunes and Quicktime.

Still fanned to 6200 and core dropped. Can't blame flash in my case.

Pretty much. It'll definitely hit 6500 if you open up a few of them. Don't worry ;)

Wrong if you open up 1. Thats why I took mine back fan noise was way too loud and easy to push the mba to its limits. I'm waiting for rev. b.

Sounds as if buying one isn't such a good idea as long as the Airs keep overheating :(

I have now owned one for about 5 days, purchased from an Apple store. The only time my fan runs high is when there is heavy internet downloading such as usenet. I was downloading a 24 part RAR file, about 14 MB each with 10 connections to my newsgroup provider. The fan went up to 6200 for the first time. I've even watched 720p films full screen with no fan issues. It leads me to believe the internet has something to do with the fan.

On my work laptop, a Lenovo T60, the only time the fan cranks up is when heavy downloading is being done. Coincidence? I have no ***** clue.

Similar problem here: Fan is low when I start up my MBA, but runs up to 6200 once I start surfing the web and watching videos on You Tube...

Will try the firmware update...
