Snapdragon 800 is just around the corner. If you don't know what that's about I really recommend looking into it. Samsung S4+ should be announced june 20th and should probably be first phone on the market with snapdragon 800. Getting any flagship device at this stage of the cycle is pointless.

Yeah im looking forward to these chips. Finally Android will have the CPU power to match with the great phones available. The current duel core Apple cpu is faster then the current quadcore android cpu's but the 800 will soon change that :)

Don't bother buying X because Y will be available in Z weeks/months/years.

If you continually wait, something better is always coming out. After the Snapdragon 800 comes out, the Snapdragon 600 surely won't be the king of the hill, but it'll still work just fine.

If you need something now, buy it now. If you can wait, then wait.

Just for *****andgiggle can you post up any reviews that have the dual core apple CPUs beating the gs4 quad core s600 or even coming close to the exynos 5 a15 cores in the Korean version

Agreed. Just because a new processor is coming out doesn't turn the HTC One or the Galaxy S4 into a paperweight.

I don't necessarily agree. If you need something now, then by all means. However, there are certainly good times to buy and good times to wait. In many areas (Haswell, new Snapdragon and so on), surely now is a good time to wait, should you have the luxury of being able to wait?

by the time you get a snapdragon 800 device in your hands, the snapdragon 1000 chip will likely just be around the corner, so if you're gonna wait, might as well keep on waiting, snapdragon 1200, 1400, so on and so forth

S4+ ? Seriously? Samsung stop diluting the S4 please. Your doing what HTC were lambasted for last year.

Don't bother upgrading to any Android right now

THE “S4+" will only be released in Korea.

No it won't. It will roll out in Korea and make its way to US by end of Q3. That's like saying intel is going to release a new processor and you can't buy it unless you live in the US. No such thing. It's just a variant

----------

Also you can avoid reality all you want saying that there's no point waiting but I can tell you one of the main disadvantages of android at the moment is long charge times. Snapdragon 800 charges phones 75% faster than snapdragon 600

Man do some research before you post things like this.the galaxy s4 charger is a 2.0 amp charge and has supercharge enabled and will charge the phone 2x as fast as the gs3 with its 1.0 amp charger.

They can keep throwing in the latest and greatest CPU's, but they would be much better served to work on the OS, and make it leaner, with less overheard and latency. If not, the OS will remain a bottleneck.

Oh great, I better wait for the 800 so I can check my Facebook faster!!!!!!!!!!!

I would take better optimized software on a snapdragon s4 dual core than poor software on a snapdragon 800.

iPhone or iPad take the lead in 95% of the tests.

I do love the misleading info you present. It is true that Apple does very well on low level commands and cpu cycles, but that isnt helpful when you are doing work that requires multiple cores and a high freq rate.
Additionally, Low level geometry and fill rate metrics are dominated by Imagination Technologies (gl benchmark fyi) . If we look at the simulated game benchmarks though, Apple falls flat on its face.

Basemark X is a new addition to our mobile GPU benchmark suite. There are no low level tests here, just some game simulation tests run at both onscreen (device resolution) and offscreen (1080p, no vsync) settings. The scene complexity is far closer to GLBenchmark 2.7 than the new 3DMark Ice Storm benchmark, so frame rates are pretty low:

By your logic, NOBODY should get the new laptops with the Haswell CPUs because everyone knows these chips are the "tock" of Intel's developmental cycle and the next "tick" processors will blow these current ones out of the water!!

I own a Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 600 and couldn't care less of the 800.
Why?
Because I wouldn't see any difference in what I am doing with my smartphone.

Like Steve Jobs used to say, if you wait around for what's next you'll never own anything. I'm still using an S3(though I owned an S4), but only because I'm waiting on the next iPhone. Snapdragon 800 will be great, but that doesn't necessarily make the 600 chip bad. Plus these new chips are so fast, it's obviously all about the software at this point.

Why is there so much hate haha. The OP is literally just informing people that this chip is right around the corner, and if you are in the market for a new phone to hold off another month. From this point forward, no thread about new technology....minds will be blown.

Exactly!! Plus the SD 800 is quite a large jump in performance, it not your everyday mobile cpu speedbump.

I have had the i5, galaxy note 2, and not the HTC one.

The i5 and note 2 were equally fast. The HTC one (600) is even faster...and I am perfectly happy. I don't see the everyday person seeing a big difference between the 600 and 800 for at least a year or so.
